Despite securing the signing of the Chelsea product, United are still linked with a move for a center forward and have listed Victor Osimhen among the strikers monitored ahead of a summer move.

Other strikers reported to be on the list of Manchester United are Harry Kane and Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta.

Although the Red Devils are reported to have backed out of the move to sign the Nigerian striker due to the price tag from Napoli, allnigeriasoccer.com provides three reasons the Red Devils need the striker.

Longevity

The unavailability of top strikers in the European football market makes Victor Osimhen and other centre forwards mentioned above a priority for the Red Devils this summer.

This became a priority because Manchester United, of the top six teams in the premier league last season, scored the list number of goals (58 goals), ten goals behind fourth placed Newcastle United.

Although a potential signing of Kane will guarantee goals and Højlund a young striker with enormous potential, the Nigerian will provide goals, longevity, and assurance for the foreseeable future.

Hard work

Aside from the quality of the Nigerian striker to score goals and create for his teammates, his desire to work hard and press to reclaim possession is another attribute to put him ahead of the aforementioned duo.

Whoscored stated that Osimhen made 0.3 tackles and 0.2 interceptions per game, while Harry Kane averaged 0.4 tackles and 0.1 interceptions last season.

Box presence

With Erik ten Hag desire to switch from a counter-attacking style to a possession based-system he utilized during his time at Ajax, the Red Devils will require the presence of a striker who can create for his teammates and also make his presence known in the box.

Considering the qualities mentioned earlier, the Nigerian striker suits the profile, creating four assists last season, one more than Kane, and two more than Højlund.

The Nigerian striker also has a better presence in the box than the two players on the list.

According to Whoscored, Osimhen attempted 3.1 shots from inside the penalty area except from the six-yard, while Kane attempted 2.1 and Højlund attempted 1.5.
