What He Could Offer To The Super Eagles If He Snubs England

Crystal Palace Star Eberechi Eze has been in good form for the Eagles this season following his move from QPR last summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been on the radar of the Super Eagles in recent times. He plays for the England U21 team but he is Eligible to play for Nigeria.

Eze was born in England to Nigerian parents hence his Super Eagles eligibility. However, the former Queens Park Rangers man has suggested that he does not want his International career to distract his development.

The Super Eagles cannot afford to lose Eze as the player plays a key role that the team needs.

Eze’s Position

Eze is an attacking midfielder who can play through the middle, on the left and right. The Palace star is right-footed and loves to play from the left side. Although this position is currently occupied by Nigeria’s captain Ahmed Musa, Eze’s versatility means he could still fit into the team.

He can play as a forward and as an attacking midfielder which allows him to play the role behind the striker.

How Eze could fit into the team

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, has lacked creativity in the middle of the park. Eberechi Eze could provide answers to that. The palace man has unique style of play. He has quick feet, dribbles and drives the ball into the opposition’s danger areas. This is an attributes the team is short of.

Eze would also release the burden on Joe Aribo who is the only creative outlet in the Super Eagle’s midfield. The current Super Eagles side is rich in attacking players but a creative force has been lacking for Gernot Rohr’s side.  The addition of Eze might just be the missing piece of the jig-saw.

Another side of Eze’s game that is overlooked is his passing. The Palace star has a pass completion rate of 85% this season.  The Super Eagle’s attack consisting of young players like Victor Osihmen and Samuel Chukwueze would blend with Eberechi Eze. The importance of Eze to this crop of forwards in the Super Eagles cannot be overemphasized.

If Eze snubs England for Nigeria, then we could be ready to see a Super Eagles team like this;

GK – Francis Uzoho
LB – Sanusi
CB – Leon Balogun
CB – William Ekong
RB – Ola Aina
DM – Wilfred Ndidi
CM – Joe Aribo
CAM – Eberechi Eze
LW- Ahmed Musa (C)
CF – Victor Osihmen
RW- Samuel Chukwueze

This starting XI could face any team in the continent and Eze might just be what we have been looking for.

Eze has played 10 games this season in the EPL, scoring and assisting twice.  With Eze’s form for the Eagles in the Premier League this season, they might be another Eagle calling him from home- THE SUPER EAGLES.
