Trump news – live: Trump’s Twitter account reinstated after nearly two-year ban
Donald Trump launches 2024 presidential campaign
Donald Trump’s Twitter account was reinstated early on Sunday after being banned for almost two years.
New Twitter owner Elon Musk had held a survey on the platform earlier on Saturday and announced he would restore Mr Trump’s account after the majority voted in favour.
Mr Trump’s influential Twitter page was suspended for inciting violence following the January 6 riots at the US Capitol.
Shortly after the announcement, Mr Trump’s account reappeared on Twitter and all of his previous tweets also reappeared. It seems to have been restored with 0 followers and following 0 accounts, but within minutes the number of followers started rising dramatically into the hundreds of thousands.
Earlier Mr Trump addressed the influential Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas, among the first major GOP events in the wake of the disappointing midterm elections.
Asked about Mr Musk’s public poll, he told a crowd that he sees “no reason” to rejoin Twitter as he enjoys his own social network. He also repeated his widely condemned claims that American Jewish people are insufficiently supportive of his Israel policies.
ICYMI: Trump revealed to have tweeted classified image from spy satellite

According to NPR, the NGA declassified the image after a “grueling Pentagon-wide review to determine whether the briefing slide it came from could be shared with the public” in response to a Freedom of Information Act request from the radio network.
