2023 Presidency: Wait For Another Time – Orji Kalu Tells Igbo People

The Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday advised politicians in the South East to wait for another time to contest the presidency.

In the build-up to the 2023 general election, there had been calls for the presidency to be zoned to the South East.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), picked their candidate from the North, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) selected their presidential candidate from the South-West.

Kalu while addressing newsmen at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Tuesday, said the presidency is not a regional issue and could only be won with the support of other geo-political zones.

He further stated that for an Igbo man to emerge as President they have to work with other Nigerians.

Court Nullifies APC Governorship Primary In Taraba

The Governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has been nullified by a Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo.

The electoral process of the APC had produced Emmanuel Bwacha as its flagbearer in the 2023 governorship election.

An aggrieved aspirant in the party, David Kente had approached the court filing a suit against APC for recognising Bwacha as the candidate of the party in Taraba State.

The presiding judge, Justice Simon Amobeda in his ruling on Tuesday directed the party to conduct a fresh primary election within 14 days.

Bwacha was also ordered by the court to stop parading himself as the governorship candidate of the APC.

2023: Why I’m Supporting Tinubu Despite Muslim-Muslim Ticket – Adeyemi

The Senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Smart Adeyemi, has revealed his reason for supporting the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, despite the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Adeyemi said he is supporting Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima because God has destined the duo to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Speaking during an appearance on Trust TV’s Daily Politics on Monday, Senator Adeyemi expressed his belief in Tinubu and Shettima to lead the country.

The APC stalwart stated that he had no problem with the Muslim-Muslim ticket fielded by the ruling party for the 2023 presidential election.

Court Nullifies Election Of PDP’s House Of Reps Candidate In Kebbi

The Federal High Court sitting in Kebbi has nullified the election of Haruna Garba Argungu as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Argungu/Augie Federal Constituency in Kebbi State.

In a ruling on Monday, Justice B. G. Ashigar declared Sani Yakubu Noma as the party’s candidate and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise him.

Earlier, Noma had filed an application against Argungu, the PDP and INEC over the conduct of the House of Representatives Primary Election held on May 23.

In the application, Noma asked the court to declare the result of the election conducted by the PDP for the constituency by which he was declared the winner as the valid result of the primaries.

He said by virtue of the provision of Sections 29 (i) and 84 (5) (c) (ii) of the Election Act, 2022 and the Electoral Guidelines for Primary Election of the PDP, the substitution of his name with that of Haruna Garba Argungu was not valid and legal and cannot be sustained.

2023: PDP Governors Dump Atiku, To Back Bola Tinubu’s Presidential Bid

A report have emerged claiming that some Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have resolved to back the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Naija News reports that the PDP has been in crisis following the refusal of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign, a demand made by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to back Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate.

Also, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Olabode George, among others, have called for Ayu’s removal and replacement by a southerner.

However, the PDP chairman has refused to quit, stressing that he was elected to lead the party for four years and he intends doing that.

Sources have now told Vanguard that some PDP governors and leaders are working for the APC presidential candidate.

Oshiomhole Lied About Anambra Security – Peter Obi Camp

The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has slammed a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, for claiming that he failed to deal with insecurity when he was the governor of Anambra State.

Naija News recalls that Oshiomhole had said that Obi’s successor in Anambra, Willie Obiano, while in power took it upon himself to demolish houses of kidnappers and Bakassi boys.

Speaking during the youth conference of the ruling APC at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Oshiomhole said that the Bakassi boys started during Peter Obi’s tenure but he could not do anything to put the group to an end.

The former Governor of Edo State wondered how Obi would solve the nation’s challenges when he could not guarantee the safety of his state while he was governor.

Reacting in an interview with Vanguard, Obi’s media adviser, Valentine Obienyem, stated that Oshiomhole lied about security in Anambra during his tenure.

He asserted that he recorded success in the security sector while he was in government, adding that there is evidence to show his achievements.

Obienyem also denied the claim by Oshiomhole that he brought Bakassi boys to the state, thereby accusing the former APC chairman of mischief and bias.

Oyo Lawmaker, Shina Peller Meets Osun Governor-Elect, Adeleke

A member of the House of Representatives from Oyo State, Shina Peller, has visited the Governor-elect of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.

Naija News reports that Peller met with Senator Ademola at his country home, Ede, in Osun State, alongside members of the Lead Generation Initiative (LGI).

In a series of tweets via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, Peller said he had a discussion with the Osun governor-elect on the need to give room for the youth to take an active part in decision-making and governance.

The lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency advocated for youth involvement in Adeleke’s administration particularly when he is sworn in as Osun governor.

Wike vs Ayu: Fayose Asks Angry PDP Members To Stop Being Angry

A former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has called on angry members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to sheath their swords and allow peace reign.

The former presidential aspirant of the PDP made the call while speaking in Ado Ekiti at the party’s stakeholders’ meeting, Naija News gathered.

He urged members of the party in the South-West to maintain peace and unity so they could work together for the victory of all the party candidates in the 2023 general elections.

Naija News reports that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, a close ally of Fayose, and other governors have called on the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, to immediately resign. They have called for Ayu’s resignation so as to allow a southerner lead the party during the 2023 general election.

But speaking at the meeting on Monday, Fayose told PDP members that they need to work together as a team for the success of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar; National Assembly; and State House of Assembly candidates in the 2023 general elections.

2023: Reason #EndSARS Protesters Should Vote Tinubu – Yahaya Bello

The Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello has said that youths who participated in the EndSARS protest would be doing the right thing if they vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2023 presidential election.

Naija News reports that the 2020 EndSARS protests against police brutality were a series of demonstrations across the country that lasted days before it was hijacked by hoodlums.

The protests also resulted in the disbandment of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Yahaya argued that participating in the electoral process is better and effective than street protest.

The Kogi governor, who was recently appointed as the national youth coordinator of the Tinubu-Shettima presidential campaign council, said he got his position based on his performance in Kogi state.

PDP Caretaker Committee Secretary, Other Chieftains Defect To APC In Kebbi

At least seventeen chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State yesterday, Naija News learnt.

The defectors according to reports include former Auditor-General of the party, Alhaji Rabiu Sa’idu, former Secretary, Caretaker Committee of the party, Alhaji Sirajo Ibrahim.

Others are said to include executive members of the party. Highlighted in the list is also vice chairman of the LGA, Vice Chairman Bubuche Ward, Umaru Wakkala; Salihu Shayi, Youth Leader; Alhaji Idi Bubuche, Treasurer and Hamza Kilu, Auditor.

Confirming the new political shift in the LGA, the former Auditor-General of the party said he defected to the ruling party after seeing the sterling leadership qualities of Governor Atiku Bagudu.

Saidu said he dumped PDP due to injustice and infringement on their rights in the party. He appreciated Magajin Rafin Kabi, Alhaji Bello Dantani, for being instrumental in his defection to the APC alongside his followers.

2023: Peter Obi Discloses How He Plans To Tackle Insecurity

Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has disclosed how he plans to tackle the insecurity issues in Nigeria if elected president in 2023.

The LP flag bearer promised to overhaul the country’s security architecture and revive trust between government and the people.

Obi shared his thoughts at the 2023 Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Private Sector Economic Forum on the 2023 Presidential Election on Monday in Lagos.

He argued that the country does not lack good ideas, however, institutional weakness and lack of political will to implement them had limited it’s economic potential.

He promised that his government would ensure multilevel policing at federal, state and community levels, and equip them properly with modern gadgets to free the economy from the woes of insecurity.

2023: Tacha Sends Important Message To Nigerians Ahead Of General Elections

Former Big Brother Naija ‘PepperDem’ Housemate, Natacha Akide popularly known as Tacha has urged Nigerians to vote wisely and vote good leaders in the forthcoming general elections.

Naija News reports that the reality star who is currently hospitalized in Dubai nudged Nigerians toward voting right in preparation for the General Election.

The 27-year-old further admonished the citizens to be involved in all levels of the government, adding that everyone would suffer bad leadership if the country does not get it right in 2023.

She warned those who have been paid by different candidates to cause havoc, to think of their future as those in power have nothing to lose if the country crashes.
