Why FG should not exceed the N-Power batch C deployment September deadline » Voice of Nigeria
The Nigerian government, through the humanitarian affairs Minister, Mrs Sadiya Umar Farouq, has engaged Nigerian youths in social investment programs since last year, but up till date it’s not clear whether the batch C category, which is the latest batch, has been fully shortlisted for deployment.
Over a month ago, the Npower-teach was shortlisted, and finger prints captured, but the physical verification process is still at large for the final deployment.
Some groups, like Npower-Agro, etc, have not even been shortlisted, talkless going through other necessary processes before you can talk about deployment.
This has turned into a nightmare for many Nigerian youths, who were thinking that by now they would have been working for over a year ago, when this batch C category registration started, on 26th June 2020.
Before this period, over 800,000 Nigerian youths who had served in the A and B batches. This was when Vice President Osibanjo was in charge of the social investment program. Things went sour when the program left the office of the VP for the office of Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Farouq.
In 2016, the first batch, the registration and deployment didn’t take many months. During that period, the monthly stipend of 30,000 was regularly paid at the end of every month. In batch B, when Mrs. Farouq took over the program, the payment became a long sermon on the mountain camel.
Some of the youths were crying, demonstrating before they could be paid for a month’s stipend from the three-month standing stipends that were not yet received.
Many were later dismissed without getting the required salary, benefits, etc.
It’s not clear what transpired in the well articulated, planned program of Prsident Buhari’s administration. As days went by, things were getting worse in Nigeria.
The Npower program was designed to help alleviate poverty, hunger, and unemployment among Nigerian youths. who serve in the program for a period of 2 years, with a stipend of 30,000 monthly. The reason for this program has been partially defeated. Nigerian youths are waiting eagerly to see when they will be deployed and will be sure of getting 30k per month.
Now that we are close to August ending, who knows whether there is any hope from FG this coming month of September, for possible shortlisting and final deployment of other groups that are yet to be shortlisted as FG promised, so that all the eligible candidates can go to their various fields of endeavour and start working and also get paid.
Npower should not be destroyed or terminated.

The FG should, as a matter of urgency, look into the reason why this program is being delayed and work on it, so that Nigerian youths can rejoice. The FG has increased the number of eligible candidates from 500,000, to 1 million.
