And here are the pre-match thoughts of the Spurs manager: “You know very well that in England, every game is difficult, especially in this competition when you play away against Middlesbrough, who are having a good season in the Championship.

“Middlesbrough are a good team. When you are able to win against Manchester United – not to forget, Middlesbrough eliminated United from this competition, and they are one of the best teams in this league – it means they have important value.

“For this reason, it will be very important not to underestimate our opponent and the difficulty of this game.”

Here’s what the Boro boss had to say before the game: “I’m really excited about the game.

“Of course, we’re underdogs and we’ll need everything to go our way, as you always do in these sort of ties.

“We’ve got to be better defensively, but I think it will be a great evening for the football club and a reward for turning over Mansfield and going to Old Trafford and getting that memorable victory.

“It brings back memories of when this football club were playing the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United on a regular basis.

“From my point of view, it’s the same message as before that Manchester United game.

“This isn’t a day-trip experience for us. We’re here to be competitive and we’re here to get a result.”

  • Boro pushing for promotion

Middlesbrough are pushing for promotion back to the Premier League.

Chris Wilder, who achieved promotion with Sheffield United, is currently just two points off sixth place Luton Town.

That will undoubtedly be his priority, but an FA Cup run would certainly please the fans.

  • Spurs field strong side

So the big three of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski all start up front once again for Spurs – just as they did at Elland Road at the weekend.

Each of them grabbed a goal on Saturday in a 4-0 win which spelled the end for Marcelo Bielsa.

    Same again tonight?

  • Spurs looking to end trophy drought

Tottenham’s last remaining hope of a trophy this season is the FA Cup.
