Some of the 2023 presidential aspirants on Saturday stormed the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja for the Ramadan Iftar dinner organized by First Lady Aisha Buhari.

The event which was scheduled to kick off by 6.30pm already had some of the guests arriving by 6.20pm.

Some of the presidential aspirants who arrived early and were on seat when the event started include the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi) and Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed.

Other officials from across political parties in the country attending the dinner include the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio; one-time National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Barnabas Gemade; former Speaker Yakubu Dogara; and businessman Tein Jack-Rich.

The South East Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Gidado Siddiki, has revealed that gunmen have reportedly abducted 10 of their members in Anambra State with 300 cows.

The gunmen who have demanded N4m ransom and a gun from families of the victims, carried out the operation at Obene Community in Ogbaru local government area settlement around 1.30am on Saturday.

According to Siddiki, MACBAN members were abducted in their sleep by gunmen who were armed with sophisticated weapons, guns, cutlasses, sticks and charms.

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has rejected the endorsement of former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Northern consensus candidates.

Recall that speaking in Minna, the capital of Niger State, after a meeting with former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, Northern Elders Forum spokesperson, Ango Abdullahi stated that the decision to select Saraki and Bala was arrived at after they scaled the criteria for selection.

Speaking through the Tambuwal Campaign Organization, TCO, Director of Mobilization, Nicholas Msheliza, Tambuwal accused Saraki of being behind the purported endorsement.

While stating the endorsement was not the true reflection of their recent meeting, the Governor said they had agreed that the issue of a consensus arrangement was not working.

Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has given condition that would make him dump the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress.

According to Punch, Jonathan will only join the ruling party ahead of the 2023 general election if he is endorsed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Jonathan in the past few months has stayed away from activities of the PDP, including the last national convention of the main opposition party.

Posters of the former president on Thursday were spotted at the National Secretariat of the ruling party.

The Lagos State Government on Saturday ordered the reopening of all Chrisland Schools which was earlier closed due to the controversy surrounding some students of the school involved in immoral activities.

The directive was given in a statement released by the Lagos State Commissioner of Education, Folasade Adefisayo.

Naija News had earlier reported that the Lagos State government shut down all Chrisland Schools in the state.

This is coming after some students of the school were involved in sexual acts during a trip to Dubai.

Former group Executive Director of Sahara Group, Tonye Cole has reportedly emerged as the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate.

It was gathered that Cole emerged the consensus candidate of the APC after a meeting held on Friday night and attended by all 10 apsirants from the state riverine region.

Tonye Cole is a close ally of the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who was also in attendance at the meeting.

However, some members of the APC in Rivers are against the selection of Tonye Cole, accusing Amaechi of imposing him on them.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has distanced himself from any consensus arrangement on the emergence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate.

The denial was given on Saturday by the technical committee for the actualization of the Atiku Abubakar Presidency in 2023 under the leadership of Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

He stated that Atiku had never been a part of the consensus negotiations for a northern PDP candidate to emerge, adding that the former Vice President is nationalistic in his approach and not in support of a regional arrangement.

Top Yoruba traditional ruler, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has been confirmed dead.

Naija News understands that the longest-reigning Alaafin died at age 83.

Oba Adeyemi has served as Alaafin of Oyo for 52 years.

The monarch who is said to be the third from the Alowodu Ruling House passed on on Friday night at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The Northern Elders Forum on Friday endorsed former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State as the northern consensus presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naija News reports that this was made known by NEF spokesperson, Ango Abdullahi, in Minna, Niger State capital.

Recall that Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Governor Bala Mohammed, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen had criss-crossed the country hoping to pick a consensus candidate amongst themselves ahead of the PDP presidential primaries.

Speaking on Friday, Ango Abdullahi stated that the decision to select Saraki and Bala was arrived at after they scaled the criteria for selection.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has given reasons why he did not meet with Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki during his recent visit to the state.

Naija News reports that Wike earlier in the week met with some PDP delegates at the residence of a former Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), the late Chief Tony Anenih.

The Rivers state governor had been in the state for presidential campaign consultations, but did not meet with Obaseki or his deputy, Philip Shaibu.
