Former military president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, better known as IBB, has listed important qualities which President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor must have.

He disclosed that Nigeria’s next president must speak to the citizens, understand economics, and have friends in every region, adding that he has seen Nigerians who have the qualities he described, and they are in their sixties.

IBB stated this in an interview aired on Arise TV on Friday and monitored by Naija News.

The 12 detained associates of the Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo are still in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

In an interview on Friday, their lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said their clients were yet to meet the conditions attached to the bail granted them on August 4 by Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Olajengbesi said efforts were being made to ensure that the 12 are out of the DSS’ custody by Monday.

The late President Umaru Yar’Adua’s son, 36-year-old Aminu, has been arrested and remanded in prison custody for killing four people in Yola.

Naija News reports that a Magistrate Cout in Yola gave the order on Thursday.

The former president’s son is to be kept in prison for crushing four people to death in an auto crash in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

Aminu, who is a student of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), was charged to court for causing death by dangerous driving on June 23, this year.

At least one person has been killed with several others injured after a Demolition team of the Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) opened fire on arm-less civilians during a demolition exercise at Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa Nigeria (EYN), Church in Maduganari area of Maiduguri, the state capital.

The incident, PRNigeria gathered, occurred when some angry youths confronted the team headed by the BOGIS Executive Secretary, Mr Adam Bukar-Bababe, after they started demolishing the church structure without notice.

Trouble started when a driver of an escalator started destroying the structure of the church including the properties inside which includes; Chairs, board, fridges, television sets, public address system and other properties.

One of the counsels to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) Nnamdi Kani, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has disclosed that the IPOB leader has not been visited in the DSS custody by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria.

Ejiofor made this claim in a statement titled, ‘Clarification On Falsehood Being Circulated Over Various Social Media Platforms.’

He said, “For your information, neither the British High Commissioner in Nigeria nor anyone representing/acting for them has visited Our Client – Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at DSS detention facility, where he is currently being held incommunicado. I can authoritatively confirm this position to you today.”

Former military president of Nigeria, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) has disclosed the reason for his decision to annul the June 1993 presidential election in Nigeria believed to have been won by Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.

The 1993 election which was expected to transit Nigeria from military rule to democratic rule was suddenly cancelled by IBB before the National Electoral Commission (NEC) could fully announce the results.

The reason behind the president’s decision has been shrouded in secrecy ever since but IBB, 28 years later has given an explanation for his action.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Friday said he is surprised to hear some Nigerians claim that his principal treats terrorists with kid gloves while going hard on separatists.

According to the presidential aide, Buhari administration has taken several steps to curb terrorism, stressing that what the Buhari government does daily is to “send terrorists to their early grave”.

Adesina described critics of the President as “most miserable” for not seeing his exploits.

Nigeria’s former military president, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida has declared that corruption under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is worse than what happened when he was in power.

According to IBB, corrupt people under his own administration can pass as saints when compared to the wave of corruption prevalent under the Buhari administration.

Babangida made the submission on Friday during an interview with Arise TV where he spoke on several national issues.

The former military leader said he tackled corrupt officials during his own time but corrupt officials in the government of President Buhari are walking about freely.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has approved the posting of Commissioners of Police to take over the saddle of leadership in thirteen (13) State Commands including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The posting of the Senior Officers is part of efforts at repositioning the Force for greater efficiency, stabilizing the internal security order, and scaling up the fight against crimes and criminality in the country.
