Speaking via a statement on Thursday, he stated that the health sector which plays a paramount role in the wellness of the nation would suffer greatly due to the development.

The group also called out the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu for having millions of Nigerian youths at home for over five months due to the lack of alleged managerial and conflict resolution acumen.

The Department of State Service (DSS) says it recovered incriminating materials at the residence of the lead negotiator between bandits and the families of the kidnapped Abuja-Kaduna train passengers, Tukur Mamu.

The spokesman of DSS, Peter Afunanya made this known to Daily Trust when asked about a raid carried out in the Kaduna house and office of Mamu in the hours of Thursday.

Naija News reports that the former chairman, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State resigns from the position on Thursday paving the way for Makinde.

Makinde emerged as the new chairman at the ongoing PDP National Executive Council Board meeting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

A total of 397 members of the NEC including past national chairmen of the party, the immediate past Vice President of the country, Namadi Sambo, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, among others were accredited for the meeting.

The federal government has reiterated that it has no plans to back down on its no work – no pay rule which was set as a penalty for the ongoing strike by university lecturers.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, made this known while speaking during a programme on Channels TV on Wednesday night, where he revealed that there has been an appeal for the government to consider going back on the policy or reaching a compromise concerning it.

“The Federal Government is not rescinding the no work- no pay decision. The Federal Government has taken the decision that it will not pay whoever goes on strike. If they call the strike off today, they will be losing 7 months of pay,” Adamu said.

Adamu also noted that the government’s decision will motivate lecturers to get back to the classroom rather than worsen the ongoing negations.

He said Nigerians should commend the Federal Government’s intervention in the ongoing strike and not only heap blame on the FG instead of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees chairman, Walid Jibrin has stepped down.

Naija News reports that Jibrin’s resignation is coming amidst the internal crisis rocking the party based on a disagreement between the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

The BoT chairman announced his resignation at the ongoing National Executive Council (NEC) of the party in Abuja.

A former President of the Senate, Adolphus Wabara has been named chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the resignation of Senator Walid Jibrin.

Former Lagos State Governor and Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has cautioned Nigerians to stop demeaning the country because of selfish interests in the 2023 election.

The Minister on Thursday stressed that there is no need to exaggerate the country’s problems without providing solutions just to score cheap political points.

Naija News reports he made the submission while speaking in Lagos in an address at TheNiche Annual Lecture themed “2023 Elections and the Future of Nigeria’s Democracy”.

According to him, there’s no need to keep on shaming the country before the international community as a strategy for winning elections.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar are arrogant because someone in the presidency is backing them.

Speaking in Rivers State on Thursday, Wike said the same forces at the Presidency promised someone the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but failed to deliver it.

According to him, the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, refused to honour his promise to resign because he was banking on the presidential backing.

He promised to reveal the identity of the person at the Presidency backing Atiku and the PDP.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that it is yet to certify any All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Yobe North senatorial seat for the 2023 elections.

The update was given on Thursday in a statement by INEC spokesperson, Festus Okoye amidst the running battle between Senate President Ahmad Lawan and his kinsman, Bashir Machina over who should be the authentic APC candidate for the position.

Naija News reports the latest INEC statement comes as a reaction to a counter affidavit filed in the Federal High in Damaturu, Yobe State regarding the Yobe North Senatorial Seat involving the APC.

The statement however said without prejudice to the ongoing court case, INEC would stand by the report of its monitoring team on which basis it didn’t publish any APC candidate’s name for the Yobe North seat.

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu has received a vote of confidence from the Party’s National Executive Council, which suggests that he will not be stepping down anytime soon.

Speaking on Thursday during the NEC meeting, the chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sen. Walid Jibrin tendered his resignation letter, paving way for a former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara (from South-East) to become the new BoT Chairman.

In his speech, Minority Leader House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, who moved the motion for the vote of confidence, appealed to all aggrieved members of the party to forgive one another no matter what had transpired in the past.

According to him, the party has won the 2023 election in the spiritual realm, the reason why the devil is attempting to divide them.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has disclosed the reason he is angry with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, flag bearer Atiku Abubakar and the party’s national chairman Iyorchia Ayu.

Naija News reports that the crisis in the PDP began after Atiku emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.

Wike had alleged that there had been manipulations during the presidential primary which were meant to favour Atiku.

Things took a turn for the worse after Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa was appointed the vice presidential candidate of the party.

While Wike had stated that he was not interested in the vice presidency position, he, however, demanded that Ayu must resign if peace is to be restored to the party.

Ayu on his part said that he will not be vacating his position until his tenure is over.

Speaking on the crisis plaguing the party, Wike revealed that an agreement had been made that Ayu would resign if the presidential candidate of the party emerged from the north for a southern to take over, The Nation reports.

He said that after Atiku emerged as the PDP’s flag bearer, he (Atiku) visited him, solicited his support and promised that Ayu would resign in the spirit of the PDP’s constitution.
