Rollcall of End-Time Nations
What nations will be present in the very end, before Jesus comes?
THE UNITED STATES?
People have looked high and low in the Scriptures for my beloved nation in that day. I do not believe they can find it. Here are speculations that surround this strange conclusion:
- America is the victim of an all-out nuclear attack from one of the nations whose nuclear program we helped finance. Perhaps Iran? Perhaps North Korea?
- America’s debts, coupled with left-wing propaganda that said we should have no borders, finally bring her down to a third-world status, and therefore she has no meaningful role in end-time events.
- America joins hands with the one-world socialist movement, the desire for “reset”, and becomes part of the rise of Europe, losing its identity, perhaps even reverting to colony status. This would be God’s judgment on a perverted nation that killed babies and promoted sexual errors of all sorts, a place of violence and no protection for the few keepers of the law left standing.
CHINA?
In 2020, the eyes of the world turned to this Eastern mega-land. China has always been a mystery to the world, whether under her ancient pagan ways, or under Communism. She has been a devourer of “much flesh”. The smaller nations surrounding her have felt the vacuum power sucking them to her side. Some have resisted. Some have not.
But it was left to this awful year, for China to become a major threat to our own country. Fears abounded. Will china pass us? Has she already? Will she then threaten us militarily? Does she have those capabilities? Will China indeed rule the world one day, as it seems her aspirations point in that direction?
Only that last question can I answer clearly. No, China will not rule the world. On the authority of God’s Word through angels to Daniel I can affirm that the only world powers to be on this planet have already been. An outgrowth of the final one, Rome, is scheduled for the very end time.
China will make much noise though. She may indeed pass us. She may have already. This would line up with the other end time facts, namely a one-world government that is ruled from Europe and only attaches to the United States as an equal, not as a world power any longer.
Some of the noise to which I refer is recorded by both Daniel and John. Daniel’s angel sees the antichrist wreaking havoc on the planet, gobbling up nation after nation, Hitler-like. He gathers a nearly universal following until he is interrupted on two fronts: The East, and the North:
Daniel 11:44, “But rumors from the East and from the North will disturb him [antichrist]… ”
Those rumors take a little more substance in Revelation 16:12. Judgments are falling worldwide, even before the return of Christ. A long-standing water dispute regarding the Euphrates River, is suddenly turned into an international incident. The waters of that great river are totally shut down, and marching over the land that appears is an army headed by the “kings of the east.”
Surely China is involved in this westward march. We are given no more details here. In Revelation 9, a similar scene involving the Euphrates and a huge army is painted for us. Here, the soldiers seem to be mechanical. And one third of mankind is destroyed!
We don’t rule China out of end time prophecy, for sure! But though she causes huge destruction, and always has, she will never ascend to the top spot of Earth’s reign. That position is left for only three kingdoms as we see it now:
- The 10-mation confederation of the revived Roman Empire, under the seventh world ruler.
- The antichrist, who moves into power of the final Roman Empire.
- The long-prophesied and desired Kingdom of God headed up by Jesus Christ.
AND RUSSIA?
The Daniel prophecy above that refers to “rumors out of the East” also mentions the same out of the North. Due north of Israel, the place where antichrist will have moved his religious headquarters by then, is Moscow. The great Bear of the North has plagued mankind for centuries, and will continue to do so until after the Millennium, when it seems that Satan will use that barren land to re-gather for one last assault on Israel, even as Messiah reigns!
Ezekiel the prophet sees all of these happenings. We infer that if Russia is still around after the Millennium, she certainly is here before it, during the Tribulation. But there seems to be no reference to it, other than those ugly rumors that wend their way down into antichrist’s hearing and make him take notice.
Russia will be quite possibly joining with China in that last attempt to gain world power. She seems to be joining even today.
ISLAMIC COUNTRIES?
Before the world was fearing China’s takeover, you may recall that Islam dominated the news cycle. Saddam Hussein. Osama Bin Laden. Taliban. Isis. Muslims in our own government. Humanity jumps from one conclusion to another, guessing with no basis, speculating theory after theory.
Islam will not rule the world, though it too will make its attempts. You will remember that the original Roman Empire encircled the Mediterranean Sea. The southern portion of that ring today is all Islamic.
Daniel saw a group of ten nations that would rise in the end. If indeed a Roman-like monster is to rejoin humanity, it will rise with democracies and kingdoms joined in a loose but real alliance to thrust its power into the faces of yet another cowering humanity base. In that sense, yes, Islam will be in power in the last days, but somehow in cooperation with non-Islamic democracies.
EUROPE.
There seems to be no doubt that Europe, at least great portions of it, will be around in that last reset of history. The Common Market. The European Union. Union for the Mediterranean. See all the attempts already to unify that block of nations. Oh, Europe shall rise.
Did you not see the advertising for EU in its early days? The picture of a woman riding a beast? Simply Google “Europa and the bull.” Straight out of Revelation the enemy flaunted his program before us! And where was the treaty signed that confirmed the coming together of Europe’s power? Of course! Rome itself!
Don’t be distracted by China or Russia or the Muslims. Rome will indeed rise again.
