Osimhen, Oshoala, Gernot Rohr get nominations for The Ballers Awards

The Ballers Awards is being organised to reward the best Nigerian footballers and coaches and football personalities linked with Nigerian football

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has gotten multiple nominations for the 2021 The Ballers Awards.

The Napoli attacker had a strong year in 2021 for Napoli and the Super Eagles and is up against several other Nigerian football stars.

Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala each had a total of three nominations. The player with the most nominations is Kelechi Iheanacho as he has been named in four different categories.

Former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr is also up against local coaches for the award for the coaching category.

A host of other nominees including invited and yet-to-be invited Nigerian football stars were in the nominations with the most highly anticipated and competitive categories on paper being the fans favourite footballer category and the best forward category.

The best forward category has some of Nigeria’s finest attackers including Anthony Nwakaeme, Paul Onuachu, Sadiq Umar, Iheanacho and Osimhen. A surprising exclusion is Taiwo Awoniyi who also had a strong year in 2021.

Other than football stars, football journalists and media houses also got nominations for the awards.

There are also categories for Sports Photographers and players with great desire for humanitarian works.
