Oracle Content Management – What it is and how it can help support a successful content marketing strategy

Are you looking for a new solution to support your digital asset management? Adding a content management system (CMS) to your company’s tech stack may be the next step in your marketing maturity journey.  Content management is not just about a solution to store assets like a DAM (digital asset manager). It should be a system that functions to support your overall digital marketing strategy through time and money saving features.

A CMS helps organizations create, manage, collaborate on, and publish their digital assets. A good CMS will give teams the ability to work cross-functionally on content that is stored within the same tool.  There are many content management systems (CMS) on the market and they all share similar functionality. Today we’re going to focus on Oracle’s CMS and run-through its main functionality and benefits so you can see if it is the right fit for your organization.

Get the facts.

What is it?

Oracle Content Management (formally known as CX Content) is a cloud-based, headless CMS that is a part of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. With Content Management, you can create, edit, collaborate on, share, and publish customized content directly from within the tool where the assets are stored, streamlining processes, saving time, and allowing your team to be more creative and collaborative by removing guardrails created by working in multiple systems and tools. Since it is part of the Oracle Cloud, Content Management integrates natively with other Oracle marketing and commerce platforms: Oracle Eloqua, Oracle Responsys, and Oracle Commerce.

Asset Management

Content Management takes security, permissioning, and organization seriously. Access levels (read: viewing, editing, and sharing) can be restricted by user groups or by individual users. This, along with smart tagging generated by Content Management’s AI, helps the correct users easily find and share the correct assets.

Content Management serves as a hub for your assets that get organized into repositories and collections (types of groups of assets). The distribution of assets into each of those can be automated through rules so that when assets are loaded en masse they will be organized appropriately with minimal manipulation by users. Workflows can then be setup to guide assets through the creation and approval process to make sure that only the approved version of assets are available for publishing.

Content Management also integrates with Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, Drop Box, and others, making the creating, editing, and sharing of your digital assets a less stressful experience by limiting the number of touches and possibility of error.

Site Builder

Content Management has a site builder feature, where, through out-of-the-box templates and drag-and-drop content, users can build marketing websites without any HTML, CSS, or JavaScript skills. Developers also can extend site builder though headless site development using REST APIs, React JS, Node JS, and others.

Collaboration

Content Management is designed to make collaboration between users and non-users accessible and streamlined. Files and folders can be shared outside of the organization so that working with vendors and partners can continue directly in the tool. There is a messaging service called Conversations where you can collaborate with your coworkers in real-time and assets can be updated with annotations for instruction on edits to be made. All are stored and tracked for historical reference.

The highlights.

  • Asset management
