WHAT IS NPOWER?
The Npower Nigeria scheme of the federal government is a component of the federal government’s social investment program. The program involves the deployment of 500,000 trained graduates who will assist to improve the inadequacies in the nation’s public services in education health and civic education.
This is a social investment program for job creation and empowerment initiatives. It is a program induced by the federal government of Nigeria, to help reduce the rate of unemployment by creating job opportunities and engaging them in activities while unemployed.
The aim of Npower is to; reduce the rate of unemployment in Nigeria, to introduce a system that would speed up entrepreneurial and technical skills, to introduce solutions to ailing public services and diversification of government policy.
N-Power Programmes
These programs are designed to ensure that each participant, engage themselves in learning and practicing what is necessary in creating and finding work.
Here is a list of N-power programs and descriptions:
Npower Agro
Npower agro, which means “N- power Agriculture”: Here, individuals are taught to become agric extension officers, farm developers and farmers themselves.
This category will train individuals in the following field:
AGRICULTURE EXTENSION SERVICES CONSULT – These individuals are trained to provide advice, information and support services to farmers to aid them improve crop productivity and animal production, including farm incomes.
SEED FERTILIZER AND OTHER INPUT AGGREGATORS – These participants are taught and trained on various ways to implement seed fertilizers and other input aggregators to boost plants growth on farm lands.
FARM MANAGERS – Participants involved in farm management are trained on ways to manage and carry out diverse duties associated with long or short term farm management, private or commercial, large or small scale farms.
PUBLIC SECTOR JOBS IN ARGRICULTURE – Participant are being trained to fit into the public sector jobs such as; communications officer, research associates, ICT specialist, business analyst, accounts and admin assistant, etc.
FARMING CO-OPERATIVES MANAGEMENT – In this category, participants are taught on how to pool and manage their resources in certain areas of activity. This category is distinguished between ‘agricultural service cooperatives’, which provides a variety of services to various farmers, and ‘agricultural production cooperatives’, where production resources like land, machinery, are pooled and members farm jointly.
AGRO-ENTREPRENEURSHIP – Here, participants are being taught the necessary skills required in marketing and production of various agricultural products.
Criteria for Selection:
- Bachelor’s degree
- HND or OND in Nutrition, Agricultural sciences, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Animal Science, Crop Science, Food Science and Technology, and other agro related disciplines.
Duaration:
- Participants will undergo a training process prior to deployment for 2 years

Npower Tax
Npower tax is one of the several N-power programs. The purpose of n-power tax is to encourage non-compliant tax payers to pay their tax due to the government. Participants are being taught the necessary skills required to compel and encourage citizens pay up tax due to the government. Criteria for Selection:
- Non graduates or unemployed graduates
- Currently unemployed
- Must be a graduate (Bachelors or Higher National Diploma)
- Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps Program
- Aged 18 to 35
- Selection preference disciplines: Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Economics, Law, Finance,
- Psychology and other allied disciplines in the Social sciences.

Npower Build
Npower build is program under n-power that teaches young men and women to gain skills in various fields such as automobile, brick laying, electrical, welding, carpentry, plumbing, agric tech, etc. It is an accelerated program designed to engage and educate majority of unemployed citizens to build a highly competent workforce of technicians and service professionals.
N-power build is basically categorized, these categories include:
BUILDING SERVICES: Here, participants are taught the pros and cons of building services. The skill required to install building systems are being learnt, the likes of building services includes; façade engineering (such as building shading requirements). Fire safety, detection and protection. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Lighting (natural and artificial). Lighting protection. Refrigeration. Security and alarm systems. Water, drainage and plumbing (including sustainable urban drainage systems). Carbon emissions calculations and reduction.
CONSTRUCTION: Here, participants get to acquire the skill sets required for construction in specific fields such as; building construction, electrical appliances, carpentry, etc.
ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION: In this category, participants are being taught how to go about electrical installations. Skills acquired in this field can be applied to building constructions and electrical work stations.
MASARY AND TILLING: Participants in this category are taught the expert skills of masary and tilling. These skill sets being one of the most seeked skills in a society, as a resulting of constant building construction and development, participants are bound to excel.
AUTOMOTIVE: Here, participants are taught the skill set related to automotives, which is concerned with the development of passenger cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles or off-road vehicles. They get to learn how to troubleshoot and solve engineering problems, plan and design manufacturing processes.
BUILT ENVIRONMENT SERVICES: In this category, participants acquire skill sets required enhance the built environment which encompasses places and spaces created or modified by people including buildings, transportation systems and parks. These services includes; building management systems. Energy generation, distribution and supply. Facades and engineering. Fire safety, detection and protection. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Information and communication technology networks. Lighting, etc.

- Most be currently unemployed
- No degree or diploma needed
- Aged between 18 to 35 years
- Participant most be Interest in fixing, building and creating things

Npower Creative
The Npower creative program is designed to train and develop young creative talents. Its primary aim is to put the creative industry of the society on the world radar to expand world class services and content.
Certificates in the following courses listed below are issued to participants:
- Animation

- Script writing
There are under-listed preferences for N-power creative Nigeria. The criteria for selection are as follows:
- Participants must be unemployed
- Participants be aged between 18 to 35 years old
- Display of skills will an advantage for animation and graphic arts
- Display of creative writing skills will be an advantage for script writing
- Problem solving skills
- Self tutorship ability
- Participants must be detailed oriented
- Participants must analytical
N-power participants are open to multiple job opportunities like, animator, script writer, illustrator, graphic design, sound editor, film editor, visual effects artist, game design, desktop publishing, educational/training content production, upon completion of program.

Npower Health
Npower health is a program designed to stimulate and increase the quality of health care level in the society. In this program, participants will be engaged in a 2 year skills development in order to promote health care amongst pregnant women, children and other variable groups. They will receive monthly resources to ensure continuous learning.
With the aid from N-power Nigeria health, graduates who are currently unemployed are empowered and elevated to success while paving the way for responsible and official public health care system.

Npower Teach
Npower Nigeria Teach program, qualified participants will be deployed to various corners of the country as teachers, not to replace current teachers but to serve as teacher assistant in various primary schools around the country (Nigeria), assisting with school management, teaching and other functions within the school premises.

Npower Tech Hardware
This is an npower program for device technicians. This program will educate participants, exposing them to practical processes and tools to assemble and repair devices of various types and specifications. At the end of this program, participants most have acquired the technical skills to be able to service and assemble devices in their various local communities as well as get the opportunity to work in a device assembly plant. At the end of the program (after 3 months of training and 1 month of assessment), participants will be presented with opportunities as to acquire the necessary tools for practice.

Npower Tech Software
This npower program is designed for participants with interest in software development. Participants will be involved in a project based model where they’ll be exposed to software development tools and resources to enable them become successful software developers. The program will serve as a platform for support for participants, bringing continuous opportunities at a platter of gold, at the end of the program participants will be given tools and devices to continue practices even after training.

How to Apply for Npower Programmes
- Visit the official npower registration portal for Npower – portal.npower.gov.ng
- In the home page, click on NPower volunteer corp, you’ll be provided with options on the different n-power programs… select the one of your choice.
- Complete your registration by filling all the required information
- Finally, submit your application.
On successfully completing application to NPower, you are expected to wait for a few days for the date of aptitude test commencement to be published on the portal.
How to Login into Npower Nigeria Portal
- Open your browser and type npower.gov.ng/login
- After the page loads, enter the email address or the phone number you registered with on the blank space indicated, then click on submit.
How to Check Npower Shortlistes Candidates
Access to the shortlisted candidates who applied for the n-power program is limited to those who have registered online and passed the test. If you cannot access the successful list of candidates, it is best known that you have not passed the test. Below is a tutorial on how you can check the n-power shortlisted candidtates:
- step 1: make sure your computer is connected to the internet. Log on to http://npvn.npower.gov.ng/login/
- Enter the email address or mobile phone number you used in creating an account, then click on “submit” to proceed.
- If your account has been successfully created, you are lucky! Your name has been added to n-power list of shortlisted candidates.
- You are not on the list this year, if you cannot open an account.
- Successful candidates can sign in to their account and complete their registration by adding the required information, including uploading of ID (passport)

- After that, select the category you applied for out of the options before you
- To login, fill in the required field with your phone number and BVN and click log in.
