Nigerian exports : Omeruo, Dessers, Schade, Yakubu open accounts; Lookman, Oseni also score

Allnigeriasoccer.com‘s review of the Nigeria-eligible players that found the net for their respective European and Asian clubs in league matches on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

We begin with the Italian Serie A, where two Nigeria attack-minded players got on the scoresheet.

Atalanta maintained their unbeaten start to the season after a 2-2 draw with an Udinese side featuring Destiny Udogie and Isaac Success.

Ademola Lookman tapped in to break the deadlock in the 36th minute after Luis Muriel rolled the ball across to him.

Elsewhere in the division, Cyriel Dessers finally opened his goalscoring account for Cremonese but it was in vain as they were thrashed 4-1 by Napoli.

In his ninth game for the Grigiorossi, last season’s Europa Conference League top scorer slotted home from close range two minutes into the second half to bring the game back to parity, 1-1.

As a reminder, Dessers scored three goals for past club Racing Genk this season before switching to Cremonese in August.

In the German Bundesliga, Germany U21 international Kevin Schade came off the bench to salvage a point for Freiburg in a 2-2 draw with Hertha Berlin at the Olympiastadion Berlin,

Schade bagged the equaliser after a mistake by the Hertha goalkeeper from a free kick not properly dealt with in the 78th minute.

It has taken the exciting winger six games in all competitions to score his first goal in 2022-2023.

CD Leganes came from behind to register a 2-1 win over FC Cartagena at the Estadio Municipal Cartagonova in the Spanish La Liga 2.

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo, wearing the captain’s armband led by example, as he took advantage of a Josema cross from the left to head into the back of the net just before the hour mark – his first goal of the season for Leganes.

In the Swedish Superettan,  AFC Eskilstuna earned a 2-0 road win over Östersund at the Jämtkraft Arena with former Kwara United midfielder Aliyu Yakubu ending his goal drought.

In what was his 13th league game in 2022, the 21-year-old doubled the advantage for the visitors with a minute left on the clock.

2007 FIFA U17 World Cup-winning striker Ganiyu Oseni scored his fourth goal of the season as his side Song Lam Nghe An and Hong Linh Ha Tinh shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw in the Vietnamese top-flight.

Oseni, 31, grabbed the equaliser in the 70th minute after coming off the bench shortly after halftime.

As previously reported, Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi, Lorient striker Terem Moffi, and Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze scored for their respective clubs.
