The Nigeria Football Federation have announced the Super Eagles squad list for the 2022 World Cup playoff matches with regional rivals Ghana later this month.

An analysis of the 25-man roster revealed that three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders and nine strikers have been selected by Nigeria’s interim boss Augustine Eguavoen.

FC Copenhagen winter signing Akinkunmi Amoo has received a first-ever call-up to the senior national team on the back of his impressive performances in his first full season at Hammarby.

Ademola Lookman, as expected, has been summoned for the back-to-back matches after FIFA granted his request to change nationality and the winger is one of three Leicester City players invited, the others being Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Former Chelsea stars Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina, and ex-Gunner Semi Ajayi are in contention to add to their international caps having made the roster.

Rangers trio Joe Aribo, Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun have been included in the finalized squad list and the same applies to Watford players Oghenekaro Etebo, William Troost-Ekong and Emmanuel Dennis.

The seven players on standby are : Chidozie Awaziem, Jamilu Collins, Chidera Ejuke, Taiwo Awoniyi, Paul Onuachu, Peter Olayinka and Eddy Onazi.
