Love Island’s Jessica Hayes reveals she has suffered a devastating miscarriage

Jessica Hayes has shared the heartbreaking news that she’s suffered a miscarriage.

The Love Island star, 29, took to Instagram on Sunday to share the devastating news next to a photo of her bump and positive pregnancy test.

Starting her post with a trigger warning, Jessica penned: ‘I debated posting it feels really strange to open up and feel vulnerable but you know I’m always open and honest with you all and it’s hard to pretend I’m ok as it’s been a rough week.

‘But I hope that someone going through the same this might help. I was pregnant and now I’m not.’

Jess continued: ‘I spoke about my 1st loss and tbh I didn’t know I would be here again earlier this time but it still feels complete sh*t.

‘It’s not really just losing a pregnancy it’s the plans you make, your vision of what that baby or child might of been like, what your family will look like and it gets taken away in a second.’

Speaking about carrying on as normal for her three-year-old son Presley, she said: ‘When you’re experiencing loss you have to pretend you are ok, wipe your tears and carry on because you have a little one, you cook dinner, you read the stories. You do the school run. Nothing stops’

‘It was a traumatic day when it happened which I wasn’t really expecting at all I tried to keep busy and go about my day went out which was a big mistake.

‘Rushed home panicked after last time (previous haemorrhage) convinced myself it might be happening again, so I was just happy to get out the other side.’

Jessica sadly had a miscarriage in 2020 and lost her little boy Teddy at 19 weeks in 2020.

In July, Jessica revealed that she is in therapy for baby loss and credited son Presley, two, for being a ‘major part’ of the reason she has stayed so strong, but admitted: ‘I have days where I just sit and cry!’

The reality star – who won the 2015 series of Love Island – admitted that she still wants three children, after confirming her split from fiancé Dan.

She spoke to new! magazine about losing Teddy in November 2020 and said: ‘I’ve had some therapy and spoken to someone and that’s definitely helped… I have days where I just sit and cry, and all I want is him back, but that’s just grief.’

Looking to the future, Jessica revealed that she still intends to expand her family, saying: ‘I’ve always said I want three children and that won’t change for me because it’s my dream.’

Dan – who she became engaged to in August 2018 after six months of dating – moved out after the couple parted ways in May, just six months after losing their unborn baby.

Jessica admitted: ‘You don’t expect everything to unravel so quickly. To lose a baby and the person you thought you were going to have more children with and get married to, it’s been a bit of a shock.’

But the Love Islander branded her ex an ‘amazing dad,’ and explained that their split may not be forever, but that they simply need ‘time apart’.

At the end of last year it was revealed that Jessica is engaged to fiancé Zeb after a whirlwind one-year romance.

She first went public with her new love on Instagram with a cosy snap on New Year’s Eve.

Businessman Zeb surprised Jessica with a romantic trip to Ibiza last month, where he got down on one knee and popped the question in front of the sunset.

Talking of their surprise engagement, she told OK! Magazine: ‘We’d only been together for a year so I wasn’t expecting it. It was a massive surprise.’

Jess said of Zeb’s proposal: ‘We went there on a private jet which was just crazy!

‘I asked him to get some videos of me for Instagram so I was just there posing away on the edge of a cliff, and then I turned around and he got down on one knee! I was like, ‘Oh my God, are you joking? Are you pranking me? Is this a real ring?’

‘I didn’t get emotional at all and then about three days later I started crying when it sank in.’

Jessica split from fiancé Dan Lawry last spring, just six months after the couple lost their second child, a little boy named Teddy, prematurely at just 19 weeks.

The influencer continues to co-parent her three-year-old son Presley with ex Dan.

She told new! magazine of the split: ‘We weren’t getting on as well as we used to and we didn’t want to be unhappy around Presley. I’m not ruling out anything in the future, but right now we don’t work together.

‘I feel like for whatever reason it’s just not meant to be right now and we need time apart, whether that’s for a year, I just don’t know. I’m just trying to put a positive spin on it.’

She went on: ‘Initially you’re devastated and heartbroken, but I feel like the universe always has a plan for you. Things happen for a reason, really s**t reasons I know, but I’m just trying to live in the moment and trust in the process and the journey.’
