2023: Why Peter Obi Cannot Win Election In A ‘Local Party’ Like Labour – Dele Momodu

Nigerian journalist and presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu has opined that Peter Obi cannot win the 2023 presidential election from the Labour Party.

Dele Momodu disclosed this earlier today when he appeared on a current affairs programme ‘Your View’ on TVC stating that he and Peter Obi were the best candidate in the main opposition party, PDP, but he absconded.

When asked if Peter Obi would be able to pull the type of votes Trump did in the US which nobody thought existed or get a large number of youths to vote for him in the general election, Dele Momodu said it’s impossible.

Giving his reason, Dele Momodu said he started his political career in Labour Party and the first thing Peter Obi would face is to fund the party because the party is not financially buoyant and Nigerians do not make contributions.

Why Wike Is The Best Running Mate For Atiku Abubakar

Chairman, League of Patriotic Lawyers, Abubakar Yesufu, has asked the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar to pick Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as his running mate.

Yesufu stated that the Rivers State governor will brighten the chances of the party and Atiku to take over the federal government after the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

He warned Atiku Abubakar not to listen to people he described as political scavengers who want to reap where they did not sow.

According to him, Wike will bring vibrancy, commitment and agility to compliment Atiku’s role.

Two Governors Atiku, PDP Are Reportedly Considering For Vice Presidential Candidate

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP and it’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar are reportedly considering two governors from the South-South to occupy the vice presidency position.
Party sources have told Premium Times that they are considering Ifeanyi Okowa and Udom Emmanuel.

However, for some highlighted factors, Governor Okowa of Delta state is said to be the favourite between the two.

Delegates from Okowa region reportedly voted for Atiku, ignoring the two aspirants from their region, Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike and Emmanuel.

The PDP is said to have given credit to Okowa for the delegates’ decision to vote for Atiku.

2023: Details Of Buhari Meeting With APC Governors Emerge

The details of President Muhammadu Buhari‘s meeting with Governors of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the party’s convention have emerged.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the president, Femi Adesina, revealed the outcome of the meeting in a statement titled, ‘We must show positive qualities of APC at our convention, President Buhari charges governors’.

President Buhari during the meeting called on APC Governors to make decisions that would enable the party to remain in power.

2023: Southern Governors Didn’t Betray You – Shehu Sani Tells Wike

The former lawmaker representing Kaduna central senatorial district, Shehu Sani on Tuesday claimed that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike was not betrayed by Southern Governors during the presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party last Saturday.

According to Sani, the Southern Governors only looked beyond the presidential primary of the party and decided to choose an aspirant who will win the 2023 general election.

The former lawmaker, however, said Wike remains an indispensable force for the battle ahead.

Buhari Meets APC Governors In Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday held a meeting with twenty-two governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress at the presidential villa Abuja.

Also present are the national chairman of the party, Senator Adamu Abdullahi, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and the Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari.

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo is absent from the meeting as he is expected to be screened by the presidential screening committee of the ruling party led by John Odigie-Oyegun.

The meeting which is being held at the Council Chambers may not be unconnected to the party’s presidential election scheduled for the 6th of June.

However, the screening committee of the party is still busy conducting screening of aspirants for the primary election despite the ongoing meeting.

‘Governor Who Won Election With 300 Votes’ — Wike Mocks Tambuwal

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike on Monday took a dig at his counterpart, Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal over his electoral value.

The presidential aspirant tackled Tambuwal during the reception organised in his honour after the presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Recall that Tambuwal while addressing delegates at the presidential primary had asked his supporters to support former vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku in the electoral process defeated Wike after gathering 371 votes, while the Governor of Rivers State had 237 votes.

The chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu in his reaction had described Tambuwal as the hero of the convention.

Wike while speaking at the convention referred to Tambuwal’s slim margin of victory during the 2019 general election.

The Sokoto governor had won the governorship election with a margin of 342 votes.

2023: Ohanaeze Ndigbo Speaks On Plans To Work Against Atiku Abubakar

The apex Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has distanced itself from reports that it is planning to work against the presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News reports that the group has been at the forefront of the call for the presidency to be zoned to the South-East by the two major political parties in Nigeria.

But over the weekend Atiku from the North-East defeated Nyesom Wike, Bala Mohammed, Anyim Pius Anyim, Bukola Saraki and other presidential aspirants.

Following the victory of Atiku, reports had emerged claiming Ohanaeze had condemned his victory, vowing to work against him in the 2023 presidential election.

But reacting in a statement on Monday, Ohanaeze spokesperson, Chiedozie Ogbonnia, denied such statement came from the group.

He accused mischief makers seeking to cause confusion in the south-east for peddling such report.

2023: Pressure Mounts On PDP Chairman, Ayu To Resign

Some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party have called on the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu to resign from his position following the emergence of Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party.

Atiku on Saturday defeated other presidential aspirants to emerge as the presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 race.

Some stakeholders of the party in their reaction to the emergence of Atiku said based on the zoning arrangement of the party, both the national chairman and the presidential candidate cannot come from the same zone.

Others claimed that Ayu had signed an undertaken before his emergence as the National Chairman of the party that he would resign and hand over to a Southerner if the presidential candidate comes from his region.

2023: Bakare Reacts To Atiku’s Emergence As PDP Presidential Candidate

Presidential aspirant and popular cleric, Tunde Bakare has reacted to the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 presidential election.

Naija News reports Atiku defeated all other aspirants with a wide margin to emerge the winner of Saturday’s primary election held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Atiku who polled a total of 371 votes ahead of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, will now be the official candidate of the PDP for the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

Speaking with reporters after undergoing a Presidential screening on Monday, Bakare said he has the political strength to defeat Atiku in the 2023 presidential election if elected as the APC flagbearer.

The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church described Atiku as a worthy candidate to face in the upcoming presidential poll.

2023: Tambuwal Almost Made Me Scatter PDP Presidential Primary – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has disclosed that he almost scuttled Saturday’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential primary held at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

He said this on Monday at a reception organised in his honour in Rivers State following his return from the PDP’s presidential primary in Abuja.

Wike said he was tempted to obstruct the process when Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State was allowed to return to the podium to pronounce his withdrawal.

The Rivers governor said Tambuwal had earlier spoken before being called back to declare his support for the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

The fiery politician disclosed that the move was contrary to the guidelines of the PDP primary election.

Gov Ortom Tells Atiku And Other Party Members Secrets To Destroying APC

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been instructed by Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom to b focused on efforts to destroy the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

This was contained in a statement issued by his spokesman, Nathaniel Ikyur, while congratulating Atiku for winning the presidential ticket of the main opposition party.

Governor Ortom said Atiku’s victory at the PDP primary election held on Saturday in Abuja was an act of God.

He praised all aspirants, including Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and others, for participating in the election, which he termed as peaceful.

Ortom called on all patriotic members of the party to remain united in a bid to take over power at all levels of government via the 2023 general elections.
