The 47th season turned out to be the last one for four of the most high-profile cast members – Pete, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney.

Jason, who shot to fame as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, returned to host the program in October just two weeks after Kim’s episode.

Meanwhile Kieran, one of the stars of the HBO drama Succession, fronted the show a couple of weeks after Jason in early November.

Kim was wracked with nerves in the run-up to her hosting debut, as seen on her family’s new Hulu reality series The Kardashians.

Apparently she came across Pete in New York and told him how ‘scared’ she was, prompting him to reassure her: ‘Can you read cue cards? You’re good!’

It emerged on The Kardashians that Kim was also torn about whether to enlist her estranged husband Kanye West to perform as her musical guest.

Kanye, who at that point was repeatedly begging Kim in public to repair the marriage, lent her some assistance ahead of her Saturday Night Live gig.

In fact he even met up with Dave Chappelle in order to ‘go over jokes and really, like, help,’ Kim said on The Kardashians.

Before the taping, Kim panicked and had the Saturday Night Live staff cut certain lines about her progressing divorce from Kanye.

One joke – which she later read aloud on The Kardashians – had Kanye, as played by Chris Redd, asking Kim to be his divorce lawyer.

Kim has been studying to follow her father’s footsteps into law, and near the end of last year she finally passed the practice ‘baby bar’ exam on her fourth try.

When she made it to the Saturday Night Live stage, she impressed the public with a string of self-aware jokes about herself and her world-famous family.

In reference to her notorious sex tape with Ray-J, Kim quipped that she thought: ‘You want me to host? Why? I haven’t had a movie premiere in a really long time.’

She even made jokes about OJ Simpson, of whose legal ‘dream team’ her father Robert Kardashian had infamously been a member.

Kim cracked that she met her ‘first black person’ through her father, then added: ‘Wanna take a stab in the dark at who it was?’

During the monologue she showered praise on Kanye, whom she called ‘the best rapper of all time. Not only that, he’s the richest black man in America. A talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.’

Then came the punchline taking aim at him: ‘So when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to just one thing – his personality.’

Kim has since revealed on an episode of the The Kardashians hat Kanye was furious at her for calling him a ‘rapper’ and using the word ‘divorced’ – and that he stormed out of the Saturday Night Live studio as a result.

A number of her sketches drew attention too, including the Aladdin-themed bit where she shared a kiss with Pete, foreshadowing their current romance.

She also made fun of her eldest sister Kourtney Kardashian’s infamous public displays of affection with Travis Barker, whom she has since married.

Kim recently revealed on The Kardashians that she was after sex when she initially made a move on Pete, who at 28 is 13 years her junior.

‘I wasn’t even thinking like: “Oh my God, I’m gonna be in a relationship with him,”‘ she spilled. ‘I was just basically DTF [down to f***].

‘When I turned 40, everyone said it’s the best sex of your life. And so far…,’ she told her sisters, winking and chuckling.

Evidently she pursued Pete after hearing the rumors about his ‘big d*** energy,’ a phrase that took off in 2018 because of Pete’s then-fiancée Ariana Grande.

During their brief engagement Ariana hinted at one of the possible reasons for his appeal when a Twitter fan asked ‘how long Pete is’ and she replied: ‘Like 10 inches ? …. oh f*** .… i mean … like a lil over a minute.’

The sly remark instantly went viral and set off a storm of online chatter about ‘big d*** energy’ and which men displayed it.

After their breakup Pete joked in his stand-up act that Ariana was exaggerating because she is so short that ‘Everything is huge to her,’ People reported.

‘Why would she tell everyone that I have a huge penis? So that every girl who sees my d*** for the rest of my life is disappointed,’ he quipped.

After Pete’s relationship with Kim went public, Kanye began carrying on an increasingly lively feud with the comedian, whom he refers to as ‘Skete.’
