Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr insulted the Nigerian media after shunning the mandatory post-match press conference following his side’s shock 1-0 loss to Central African Republic in a 2022 World Cup qualifier.

However, the Franco-German had a chat with the Nigerian Federation Media Team shortly after the game at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Despite dominating the game, the Super Eagles came away with nothing following Karl Namnganda’s late goal for the visitors.

Rohr commented on the absence of his key midfielders including Alex Iwobi, the Central African Republic team, the big chances missed by his strikers, the upcoming game in Douala.

Here’s every single word Rohr said in his post-match interview :

Thoughts on the game?

“We tried of course to win this match, we knew it was a difficult match, this team has very good organization, you saw when they played a draw against Cape Verde already and making a very good match against Liberia despite defeat.

“They didn’t deserve to lose this game so we knew that it was difficult.

“We missed some players, we had to build a new midfield also. The creativity of Alex Iwobi for example we are missing it so much.

“First half was difficult, second half was better. We tried to score, we had a lot of chances , we could not, then very often in football you have the possibility for the opponent to score a goal and that’s what they did.

“We lost this match but still a position at the top of the group because with our six points we have still two points more than two other teams.

“We go there in three days to win the game, the second game. I think we have the better team but sometimes the better team is not winning.

“They were a little lucky to score when they scored. We missed a little bit of efficiency and we have to work on it.”

What will be your takeaway when you get to Douala because you seem to have the same mindset as coach Raoul, you believe in luck and eight men behind the ball was what he used to get at you.

He stopped your runners from your flanks, what will be the key thing for you to loosen that midfield and get supply to the strikers?

“At first we must have a good digestion of this result, it is a big knock on the head of everybody so we must stay calm, not panic. We’ll analyze the game and prepare, perhaps some changes in the team we will see.

“With the new spirit, with I think motivation, because everybody is down actually in the dressing room so we have to try to find again our winning spirit and have a very, very good organization in this wonderful pitch in Douala – big pitch, wonderful grass. Cameroon, now, they have good stadiums.

“We are lucky not to go to Bangui, we have a chance to go to Cameroon, it is not too far. Three days it will be better than today”.
