The government of Nigeria has started the first step for the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program.
People can now apply at Fellow.3mtt.training.
What is 3MTT?
The 3MTT is a big plan by the government. Dr. Bosun Tijani, the main person for Communication and Digital things in the government, told everyone about this on Friday. This program is part of a big goal called Renewed Hope. Its job is to make Nigeria strong in tech skills. Nigeria wants to be known for having a lot of skilled people.
The government will work with a group called NITDA and other people. They will pick people who like certain skills. The government will pay for their training.
How will it work?
Dr. Tijani said that they want to train 30,000 people first. This is 1% of the total number they want. They have a plan for this. They talked with many groups to make this plan.
People will learn many skills. Some of them are:
- How to sell things online (Digital Marketing).
- How to manage projects on the computer.
- How to use the cloud.
- How to understand data.
- How to make websites look nice (Graphics Design, UX/UI Design).
- And many more.
The 3 Steps of the Program
Dr. Tijani talked about a rule. It’s called the “1%-10%-100% Rule”. This rule is like a map. It helps the government do things in a good way. It helps them save money and do things right.
The rule has 3 steps:
- Prototyping (1%) – This is like a test. They try small things to see if they work.
- Piloting (10%) – This is like a small version. They do it with a few people.
- Scaling (100%) – This is the big version. They do it with many people.
