Nigerians abroad: Onuachu hits 13th heaven; Moffi closes on Neymar, Mbappe; Etebo stars in big Aris win

Several Nigerian stars were in league action on Sunday, and many continued their excellent forms for their respective clubs. Soccernet.ng highlights a few of the most impressive performers.

Moffi racing down Mbappe

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi hits his tenth league goal of the season to drag Lorient to a 1-1 at Strasbourg in a Ligue 1 faceoff.

Moffi pounced on a Dimitri Lienard blunder in the fifth minute to open the scoring for Les Merlus. But substitute Habib Diallo’s late strike earned the hosts a share of the spoils.

With his latest effort, Moffi has moved to within one goal of Neymar (11) and two goals of Kylian Mbappe (12) at the top of the goalscorer chart.

Onuachu flying high

In Belgium, Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu proved too strong for his opponents again as he found the net to power ten-man Genk to an impressive 2-0 win at Anderlecht.

Onuachu connected beautifully with a fine delivery from Daniel Munoz to open the scoring for the Limburgers in the 19th minute.

The goal was Onuachu’s 13th in the Jupiler Pro League, his sixth in his last three games, and only once in nine consecutive matches has the 28-year-old not breached an opposing defence.

Etebo and the best of the rest

Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo was one of the best players on the pitch as Aris Thessaloniki romped to a 4-0 win away to PAS Giannina in the Greece Super League.

Etebo dominated the midfield battle as goals from Fabiano Leismann, Nicolas N’koulou, Luis Palma, and a Rodrigo Erramuspe own-goal handed Aris a convincing victory at the Zossimades Stadium.

In Norway, Nigerian stars Akor Adams and Ifeanyi Mathew helped Lillestroem end the season on a high with a come-from-behind 3-1 win at home to Hamarkameratene.

Kristian Onsrud gave the visitors an early lead, but Olsen equalised for the hosts midway through the first half. Nigeria’s Adams handed Lillestroem the lead shortly after the interval.

Vetle Dragsnes’ 80th-minute effort added gloss to the scoreline as Lillestroem finished fourth behind champions Molde, Bodo/Glimt, and Rosenborg in the Eliteserien.

In the Czech Republic, Peter Olayinka and Slavia Prague moved to within two points of league leaders Viktoria Plzen with a commanding 4-0 win away to FC Fastav Zlin.

A fast start for the Slavists saw Ondrej Lingr, David Doudera, and Super Eagles winger Olayinka score within the opening half-hour.

Lingr added a fourth for his brace after the halftime break to push Slavia back in the title race.
