Unpaid Stipends: Npower Beneficiaries Attack Minister Over Sallah Message

Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development on Friday, took to her social media page to issue a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 2020 Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

The Minister who took to her verified Twitter account prayed for a happy Sallah celebration and urged Nigerians to remain safe.

She issued the statement on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

She wrote: “May the Almighty Allah accept from all of us. Happy #EidMubarak from us all
@FMHDSD. #StaySafe”

However, some of the responses she got after the post were from N-Power beneficiaries who were yet to get their June and July stipends.

The beneficiaries replied that it is unfair of her to wish them a happy Sallah celebration when they have not been paid their outstanding stipends.

The N-Power scheme is a social intervention programme of the federal government of Nigeria which is managed by her Ministry.

About 500,000 beneficiaries are employed by the scheme under its Batch A and B, while the process of recruiting another 400,000 Nigerians as Batch C beneficiaries of the scheme is ongoing.
