A special adviser to Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State, Rabiu Kamba, on Friday disclosed that a teacher and eight students out the victims abducted by bandits on Thursday at the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State, have been rescued.

Bandits around 12:30 on Thursday invaded the college and abducted yet to be ascertained, several students.

Kamba while speaking on the development said the abductees rescued are in the custody of the military

He added that an arrangement is in place to hand over the victims to the government for an onward reunion with their families.

One of the students kidnapped on Thursday from the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State, has been killed during an exchange of gunfire between soldiers and bandits.

The incident was confirmed on Friday by the Deputy Force Commander of the Joint Task Force in the North-West Zone, Air Commodore Abubakar AbdulKadir.

Abdulkadir noted that four students and a teacher were rescued during the operation.

“In the early hours of this morning, we have come across the kidnappers. They came to our blocking point, and we engaged them,” Abdulkadir said.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has accused Asari Dokubo, former militant leader of defrauding him N20m.

Naija News reports that in a recent video, Dokubo had continued his verbal attacks on the pro-Biafra agitator.

Asari Dokubo accused ‘evil’ Nnamdi Kanu of standing against the restoration of Biafra.

While accusing the IPOB leader of using the “Biafran struggle” as a business venture, Dokubo claimed Nnamdi Kanu has been diverting funds meant for the Biafran cause.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has rejected the bounty placed on IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu by a coalition of northern groups.

Ohanaeze in an angry reaction on Friday told the northern group to place the bounty on the Miyetti Allah group and Boko Haram terrorists.

It also rejected the insinuation that northerners were getting killed in the southern region of the country.

Naija News recalls a northern group known as the Northern Consensus Movement(NCM) had declared the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu wanted.

Activist and Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho is billed to storm Lagos State for a Yoruba Nation rally.

Naija News understands Igboho is expected in Lagos on July 3, 2021 at the Ojota park in continuation of the rally for the creation of Yoruba nation.

Earlier, similar rallies have been held in Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, and Ondo states, it will be recalled.

The Nation reports that the plan for Igboho and his supporters to be in Lagos for the rally was made known by an ardent supporter of Sunday Igboho, Ololade Alaba Shomuyiwa, popularly known as Baba Confirm, Prophet of El Adonai Cherubim and Seraphim International Bible Ministries.

A federal high court sitting in Abuja, on Friday ruled that the President has the powers to extend the tenure of an Inspector-General of Police beyond the normal term in office.

The presiding judge, Ahmed Mohammed ruled that the tenure of a retiring Inspector General of Police (IGP) can be extended pending the appointment of a substantive successor.

The pronouncement was made after hearing the suit filed by a lawyer, Maxwell Okpara, who challenged the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the tenure of the immediate past IGP, Muhammed Abubakar Adamu for three months.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has announced the sack of over 99 political of his appointees.

Speaking at a media chat with journalists on Thursday night, the governor noted that the disengaged political appointees constitute 30% of political office holders.

The governor disclosed that only agencies connected to the local government system have disengaged staff and these include the 23 local government councils, SUBEB and the Primary Health Care Board.

El-Rufai noted that his government has started implementing its rightsizing policy, but is yet to disengage any state civil servant.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee has screened and cleared all the 14 Anambra State governorship aspirants.

Three people were killed while 13 others sustained injuries on Thursday night, following a tanker explosion in Ikeja, Lagos state.

Naija News reports that the explosion occurred around the Sheraton Hotel area, located on the Mobolaji Bank Anthony way in Ikeja.

It was gathered that the impact of the explosion was felt inside buildings in the government residential area (GRA) axis of Ikeja.

A self-acclaimed leader and founder of the Biafra National Guard (BNG), General Innocent Orji, has said they are prepared to face Nigeria over threats made by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that in a meeting with INEC officials, Buhari had threatened to deal with those bent on destroying Nigeria through insurrection.

The president said, “Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”

In a statement to newsmen, the BNG leader charged people of the southeast to brace up and defend themselves against an imminent genocide.
