Anambra Governor, Willie Obiano raced to Aso Villa in Abuja to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday barely 24 hours after the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami SAN, threatened the imposition of a state of emergency in Anambra State to prevent the growing insecurity in the state from affecting the November 6th gubernatorial election.
After meeting with the President, Obiano told reporters that Buhari was not in support of Malami’s statement that “no possibility is out ruled by the government in terms of ensuring the sanctity of our democratic order, in terms of ensuring that our elections in Anambra holds, and you cannot out rule possibilities inclusive of the possibility of declaration or state of emergency where it is established, in essence, that there is a failure on the part of the state government to ensure the sanctity of security of lives, properties and democratic order”.
President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to do everything within the law to protect citizens from onslaught of criminals, which include insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and politically motivated killings.
He stated this on Saturday while speaking in Kaduna at Passing Out Parade for Cadets of 68 Regular Course (Army, Navy and Airforce).
In a statement sent to Naija News and signed by his Media Assistant, Garba Shehu, Buhari assured that more equipment had been received from some friendly nations to improve security operations.
According to the President, his government remains focused on its priority of improving security, bolstering the economy and fighting corruption.
The special counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, who leads the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Aloy Ejimakor has stated that contrary to what people think of his client, Kanu hates nobody or tribe and has a lot of laughter in him.

Human Rights Writers Association Of Nigeria, HURIWA, has berated the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army for arresting veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu.
Naija News reports that the actor was arrested by security operatives for allegedly canvassing support for the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Chinwetalu Agu was later handed over to the DSS for prosecution by the Nigerian Army.
In a statement signed by HURIWA National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, the group describes Agu’s arrest as injustice and ethnic profiling.
