I’m A Celeb bosses have rubbished claims that celebrities are supplied with various luxuries despite the appearance of gruelling conditions in the Welsh camp.
Insiders have alleged that stars are receiving hot water with the flick of a switch, allowed to be placed in a heated room prior to challenges and are given cigarettes despite bemoaning their horrific surroundings.
Claims have been dismissed and it has been outlined that the group are required to ‘burn wood’ and ‘manage the water pump for 40 minutes a day’ to earn ‘lukewarm water’, with a source telling MailOnline: ‘There is NOT a secret supply of hot water.’
Stars including Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley, Emmerdale actor Danny Miller and French football ace David Ginola arrived at 19th century Gwrych Castle near Abergele on Sunday ahead of the show’s three week stint.
False: ITV have rubbished claims that celebrities are supplied with hot water on camp, saying that they have to ‘burn wood’ and ‘pump the pump for 40 minutes a day’ to earn ‘lukewarm water’
ITV bosses told MailOnline that the shower used in The Clink, the smaller, more basic camp, will be ‘primitive’ where contestants will have to work for their warm water.
They said: ‘It is a much smaller living space; they do get to sleep inside at least but there will be no beds for them – they will sleep on the floor.
And while there is a ‘switch’ to turn on the warmer water, if the celebrities don’t do the tasks, they don’t get the lukewarm water, regardless.
Bosses said: ‘There’s a very primitive shower camp but most of their daily lives will be within a cramped and claustrophobic courtyard, all their cooking, eating, washing up, and the chores they do will all happen outside.
‘They are really going to be on top of each other for the first few days.’
Eeek: ITV bosses previously told MailOnline that the shower in The Clink, the smaller, more bare camp, will be ‘primitive’ where contestants will have to work for their warm water
The main camp was dubbed luxurious by the director of the show in comparison as campmates will be able to enjoy hammocks and have showers in twos.
Other allegations included an insider telling The Sun that the contestants who smoke, including Danny, David and producer Naughty Boy, were being plied with cigarettes.
The source said: ‘Danny was asking for one within an hour of the entrance trial ending. David had two smokes in less than an hour.’
However, it has since been confirmed that celebrities have always had access to a smoking area in both Wales and Australia, so this is not deemed a luxury item.

Smoking: An insider also told The Sun that the VIPs were being plied with cigarettes. However, celebrities have always had access to a smoking area in both Wales and Australia
A further accusation stated that ‘cossetted stars have a heated Portakabin where they can wait as they prepare for trials’. There has been no confirmation or denial on these claims from ITV.
This year’s series has been dubbed the ‘toughest ever’ by producers and includes ‘one tough challenge everyday.’
The trials will be filmed late at night, after the live show on ITV.
Campmates, therefore, will not eat their evening meal – if they win any food at all – until the early hours of the morning.
Tom said: ‘Trials always happen after the live show because obviously you have the votes within the live show and dinner is a direct result of the trial so depending on the number of stars they win if any… they will be eating dinner late.’
