Chef Philipe Gardelle, the mentor of Chef Yaya Barry

Chef Yaya Barry is the first Guinean female gastronomic chef. She has always wanted to fully live her passion for cooking. After her culinary training, she honed her craft in several Parisian establishments, where she had the opportunity to work with renowned chefs such as Chef Philipe Gardelle, whom she considers a mentor.

Upon returning to Guinea, Chef Yaya opened the first Gastronomy school in Guinea, called Kamy EGG, which trains over 200 young aspiring chefs annually in the culinary arts.

Le Jaquier, the first gastronomic restaurant

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, she also opened her first gastronomic restaurant, Le Jacquier, offering delicious and healthy meals worthy of a Parisian establishment.

Passionate about the culinary arts, Chef Yaya is now the only female gastronomic chef in Guinea, with an impressive journey. She aims to transmit her knowledge and contribute to the promotion of culinary arts, especially among women. As she likes to say, « Gastronomy is not reserved for men only. »
