Taylor Swift’s special handshake with Brittany Mahomes is ROASTED on social media… while others are charmed by new ‘besties’ amid singer’s romance with Travis Kelce

A celebratory handshake between Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes Sunday, while cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, drew mixed reviews on social media, as some were put off by the gestures, while others found it endearing.

Swift, 33, and Brittany, 28, were seen doing a handshake routine as they cheered on their respective partners – Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, 34, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, 28 – in their 31-17 drubbing of the Los Angeles Chargers.

‘This is more cringe for me,’ one user said, while another said, ‘This is so cringe just to get people to watch NFL football!’

Another noted that Brittany was also best friends with Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole, while another said, ‘Make it stop.’

A user said of the Swift friendship with Brittany Mahomes: ‘Make it stop,’ while another said that the friendship seemed like a ‘publicity stunt,’ adding, ‘who practices a handshake?’

The two ‘WAGs’ have clearly bonded during their time together in the bleachers as they were captured shaking it off together in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium during Sunday’s game. 

Taylor, with a drink in hand, and Brittany, holding her 11-month-old baby boy, Bronze, in her arms, swayed from side to side as they bopped their heads in time with each other. 

Others found the gesture charming, amid initial speculation as to how they would get along after Swift’s high-profile romance with Kelce went public. 

One user said, ‘Ok they’re besties,’ while another said,  ‘Bestie already has a handshake figured out with her new bestie.’

The handshake appeared to correspond with an on-field handshake the reigning NFL champs put into play after touchdown drives, as Kelce was seen doing it. 

Said one user: ‘Not Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce both doing handshakes at almost the same time. They are so beautiful together. They really are in love, think alike and act alike. Easily the cutest and most adorable relationship of the century.’

Another said, ‘I’m so happy Taylor is gaining new friends!!!’ 

The new friends broke out their first handshake after the Chiefs’ first touchdown from a Mahomes pass to wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling. They went wild as they jumped up and down and screamed in celebration before launching into their practiced handshake which wrapped up with a hip bump. 

Swift and Kelce emerged as a couple last month when Swift was on hand to watch Kelce in his September 24 game against the Chicago Bears, as Swift sat in a luxury box alongside Kelce’s mother Donna. 

She was seen spotted taking in Kelce’s game against the Jets in New Jersey October 1, bringing celeb pals including Lively, Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and Sophie Turner.

Swift was back in Kansas City to cheer on Kelce in his game against the Denver Broncos October 12. The Chiefs have won all four games she has attended.

It’s not the first time Taylor and Brittany have acted as cheerleaders together this season as they were seen hugging after their respective partners combined for a big gain during their win over the Denver Broncos last week.

The pop megastar and wife of Mahomes were seen going wild after the pair linked up for a 19-yard gain in the second quarter that set up a first-and-goal.

The pair was all smiles before the Chiefs’ Kadarius Toney caught a touchdown pass to give Kansas City a 10-0 lead.

Meanwhile, this week Taylor cut a lovestruck figure in the stands as new boyfriend Travis Kelce took to the field for the Kansas City Chiefs against the LA Chargers on Sunday.

The pop sensation has returned to Arrowhead after enjoying a lunch at Kelce’s house in Missouri with the likes of NFL legend Bernie Kosar earlier in the day.

Swift posed for a snap alongside Kosar just hours before the game, which marks her third appearance at Arrowhead to watch Kelce in action for Kansas City. She was then seeing rocking up at Arrowhead shortly before kickoff on Sunday afternoon.

Kosar, best known for his eight-year spell with the Cleveland Browns, wrote on X along with the photo: ‘Watching the Browns game with @taylorswift13 pre KC game. Tough to see Deshaun Hurt!!!’

After heading into the arena, Swift was spotted gazing adoringly at Kelce as he ran out onto the field at Arrowhead, while wearing a friendship bracelet with the number 87 on it – which is his jersey number for the Chiefs. 

Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Patrick, also joined his sister-in-law and Taylor, who wore Kansas City red sweater to cheer on Travis for a fourth time this season, in the luxury box.

A number of users expressed concern about Jackson’s proximity to Swift, as the 23-year-old TikTok personality continues to deal with the fallout of a February arrest in connection with aggravated sexual battery at an Overland Park, Kansas bar.

One user said that Jackson was positioned by the beloved Grammy-winner to help his image as he deals with the ongoing case that stemmed from his arrest. 

The user said that ‘putting jackson mahomes in the box with taylor so he gets good coverage before his preliminary hearing for his SA case in TWO DAYS is so f***ing sinister.’

The Bachelor alum Nick Viall said that ‘Chiefs security should be ashamed for letting Jackson Mahomes in the same room as Taylor Swift.’

Another user noted, ‘I’m going to need someone to get her out of that box immediately, Jackson Mahomes is there.’

One user said that Swift – who had her back turned to Jackson – should not catch any flak for ‘being near’ Jackson at Sunday’s contest.

‘Is she seriously gonna tell Pat, “I can’t be around him its bad for my image?”‘ the user said. ‘NO THE F*** NOT. no sane human being would say that s***. Stop being chronically online and dense.’
