As the show kicked off, host Tess Daly made sure to acknowledge the win as she announced: ‘Shall we have another big cheer for our NTA winner Anton?’

The camera then panned to the stunned judge, who shouted ‘oh’ while pulling a shocked face as the studio began to cheer.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas got onto her feet to clap as the crowd roared, while a giggling Anton held onto the NTA award.

‘He’s very happy,’ said co-host Claudia Winkleman, as Anton’s reply was inaudable as the crowd began to chant his name.

The group of celebrity contestants and their pro partners, who stood on the stage, joined in as they clapped and chanted for him.

Putting his hand over his heart, Anton stood up and took a bow – thanking everyone for their support.

‘I wouldn’t be anywhere without my fellow judges but you can’t have this, it’s mine,’ he jested while scooping up the prize and lifting it away from the rest of the panel.

The judge was delighted during Thursday’s award ceremony, stepping up to thank his wife Hannah Summers and the show’s executive producer Sarah James in his speech, saying: ‘Thank you to everyone who voted, who’s watching the show. Thank you to my wife.

‘Sarah James, let me tell you about Sarah James. I love this woman, she’s the great thing to happen to television, thank you for giving me the job. That’s why I love her, I won’t deny. Thank you so much.’
