City Premier League title video
The 2020/21 Premier League season is set to come to a conclusion on Sunday with plenty still to decide.
The race for the top four and those all-important Champions League qualification places is still up in the air with three teams battling it out on the final day.
The equation for Chelsea is simple – win at Aston Villa and they will return to the competition they are in the final of next weekend. Liverpool’s route in is the same with three points against Crystal Palace, helmed by Roy Hodgson in his last game in charge, enough for them to qualify too. FA Cup winners Leicester City, who face Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon, must win themselves and hope one of their two rivals slip up.
West Ham need a point to guarantee European football of their own with Spurs hoping to be able to capitalise if they don’t. The Premier League trophy will be lifted at the Etihad following Manchester City vs Everton where Sergio Aguero will also bid the home crowd farewell as he brings his glittering City career to a close. Boss Nuno Espirito Santo will be waving goodbye too with his four-year spell in charge of Wolves coming to an end after the game with Manchester United with others across the league battling for crucial points and final finishing positions.
We will be across all of it for you throughout the afternoon. Follow it all live here:
Champions League calculations
There can be a maximum of five English sides in next season’s Champions League, so how to fit them all in?
Finishing in the top four Premier League spots sends a side into the Champions League next season as does winning the Champions League or Europa League trophies this season (if you finish outside of the top four).
That means, Leicester and Liverpool need to win today and Chelsea need to lose. Liverpool would then finish third and Leicester fourth (goal difference depending).
Chelsea meanwhile would finish fifth in the league but have a second bite at the apple next Saturday when they face Manchester City in the Champions League final.
Should Thomas Tuchel’s side win the trophy then all five English sides, both Manchester clubs included, will be in the Champions League next season.
However, should Chelsea win today or lose next Saturday, that all goes out of the window.

Bye, bye Big Sam
Today also sees Sam Allardyce leaving his role as West Brom’s manager following their relegation.
Allardyce suffered his first ever Premier League relegation when defeat at Arsenal on 9th May ensured they would drop into the Championship.
The former Bolton, Newcastle, West Ham, Sunderland and England boss succeeded the sacked Slaven Bilic at West Brom on an 18-month contract in December but said he felt unable to commit to Albion for the long term.

Some fun facts
If Manchester United avoid defeat at Wolves toady, they will become just the fourth side to remain unbeaten away from home across an entire English top-flight campaign, after Preston (1888/89) and Arsenal (2001/02 and 2003/04).
Also, if he scores against Fulham, Joe Willock will become the first player to find the net in seven straight Premier League appearances for Newcastle since Alan Shearer between September and November 1996.

Brendan Rodgers on Leicester’s season
“It is amazing. The crowd here are a real lift for us. We felt it at Wembley. It will be great to have 10,000 today. We are really excited about today. It has been two seasons rolled into one really. We have fought in every game and in with a fighting chance of making the top four.
“We have said to the players that whatever happens today, we have had two seasons of fighting and challenging rather than sitting in mid-table. We will see what happens.
“The game will show that the team is a fighting team that is developing, For us to be in the conversation shows what this team is about.”

The fans are back
Across the Premier League fans will be allowed to attend each game today as the plans to relax the Coronavirus protocols continue to go ahead.
That means that 10,000 supporters of those sides playing at home can create an unrivalled atmosphere in the stadiums to close out this very strange season.
With the race for the top four so close, and Leicester and Liverpool playing at home, will their fans give them a boost over Chelsea who have travel to Aston Villa?

What is the Europa Conference League?
The Uefa Europa Conference League (UECL) is a new competition starting in the 2021/22 season. It will be the third tier of European football after the Champions League and Europa League.
Clubs qualify based on their performances in national leagues and cup competitions. For example whoever finishes seventh in the Premier League will take part in the UECL next season.
Vying for that spot are West Ham, Tottenham and Everton but one of those clubs will finish in sixth meaning they’ll take a place in the Europa League instead.
