Comptroller General Immigration Service

This is the highest officer in the Nigeria Immigration Service. Therefore, only one person can have this degree at a time. The post is appointed by the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They will be renewable for four years, depending on the level of performance of first tenure.

Assistant Comptrollers General

This is the second highest level of the Nigeria Immigration Service and is usually handed over to some officers who committed themselves as assistant to the Control general. They direct the main arms of the NIS and report to the Comptroller General.

Superintendent of Immigration

The Assistant controller is the third highest of the NIS, right next to the Assistant general controller. He’s superior to the superintendent of immigration, and he’s a senior officer in the service.

The superintendent of immigration is a high degree of immigration, which is just below assistant comptroller. It’s the second lowest grade of the official immigration cadre who’s just above the Assistant superintendent of immigration.

This is the second lowest level of Immigration Service. It is superior to the lowest rank but inferior to the other ranks. People of lower rank are promoted to this rank after fulfilling the conditions of promotion.

Passport Officers

This is the lowest level of Immigration. Non-commissioned personnel are recruited to this degree and make their way into the ranks.
