Man City vs Brentford preview
Well that wasn’t in the script.
Manchester City were expected to pile the pressure on leaders Liverpool and Arsenal by beating Chelsea at the Etihad on Sunday.
However, they failed to beat Mauricio Pochettino’s side with their run of 11 successive wins in all competitions coming to a fairly abrupt halt.
The Cityzens do still have a game in hand, and they could move to within one point of first-placed Liverpool with maximum points against Brentford this week.
The Bees became just the third team to do the Premier League double over City in a season in which they were crowned champions last year.
But there is no chance of a repeat with City having beaten their opponents 3-1 courtesy of a Phil Foden hat-trick in the reverse fixture earlier this month.
In fact, this could become only the third instance of one team beating another twice in the same calendar month in the Premier League.
As for Brentford, their mini-revival was halted after suffering a 4-1 home thrashing against Liverpool on Saturday. The result leaves Thomas Frank’s side in 14th position – six point above the relegation zone.

Man City vs Brentford betting tips
Emphatic
You have to suspect a backlash from Manchester City after their frustrating 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Saturday. The Cityzens boasted 70% possession against their opponents, firing off a colossal 31 efforts on the Chelsea goal with an xG of 2.81.
In the two home matches this season that City have been limited to one goal – they’ve scored FIVE and THREE in the following encounter.
That’s bad news for a Brentford side who are shipping goals for fun. The Bees have one clean sheet in their last 16 matches in all competitions, and have conceded 3+ goals in three of their last five.

Backlash
If Manchester City were frustrated against Chelsea, then Erling Haaland was positively incensed.
The normally prolific superstar had NINE shots during the encounter, and missed three big chances – including one glaring free header from six yards out.
Haaland broke the record for the highest xG in a Premier League game this season without scoring. And that’s not something that will sit well with the Norwegian.
We expect the 23-year-old to go for broke against Brentford, who have conceded 33 efforts on target in their last four outings – more than any other PL side.

Assist potential
Kevin De Bruyne looks the obvious candidate to provide an assist on Tuesday, but the Belgian is 4/5 and Jeremy Doku represents the better value pick.
The winger, 21, is offered at 21/10 with Paddy Power to add to his tally of SIX assists in 25 appearances for the champions.
He’s created 10 chances for his colleagues (only four less than Kevin De Bruyne) in the last four weeks at an average of one chance created every 29 minutes. He ranks higher than any City player for touches in the opposition penalty area (43), and second for most touches in the opposition third.
