LET’S TALK!! Who Owns Lagos, Who Built Lagos State? » Naijaloaded
Lagos is the largest city in Nigeria and the second most populous city in Africa.
It was the national capital of Nigeria until December 1991 before the government decided to move their capital to Abuja in the centre of the country.
The Lagos metropolitan area has a total population of roughly 23.5 million as of 2018, making it the largest metropolitan area in Africa. Lagos is a major African financial centre and is the economic hub of Nigeria at large.
The city has been described as the cultural, financial, and entertainment capital of Africa, and is a significant influence on commerce, entertainment, technology, education, politics, tourism, art, fashion. Lagos is also among the top ten of the world’s fastest-growing cities and urban areas.
Economically, Lagos State is one of the most important states in the country as a major financial centre and would be one of the largest economies in Africa if it were a country with a gross domestic product of $84 billion comparable with Ghana’s $75 billion, Angola’s $70 billion, and Ethiopia’s $93 billion.
Lagos State is also a key culture, education, and transportation hub for Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. Despite being beset by overcrowding and chronic debilitating traffic, Lagos State has the highest Human Development Index in Nigeria and numerous developmental projects.
But the question and debate ongoing now is, Who Owns Lagos, Who Built Lagos?
In my opinion and according to research, NOBODY OWNS LAGOS and Lagos wasn’t built by Bola Tinubu.
Lagos State was once the capital city of Nigeria, before it was replaced by Abuja on 12 December 1991.
Tinubu served as the Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007. So how was Lagos built by him?
If anyone is to claim he built Lagos State, that should be Fashola. He practically did almost everything you see in Lagos today.
It baffles me when some people brag and claim ownership of Lagos, asking strangers to leave.
Nobody owns Lagos per se. The bonafide citizens (real indigenous people) of Lagos State are not up to 1M. The rest including Tinubu are from other Yoruba, nearby states and foreigners.
Same thing with Portharcourt, Rivers State. Nobody owns PH. I can’t tell anyone to leave because I’m a bonafide citizen of Rivers. I fit collect slap on top.
I know some people will not agree to this. So I ask,
Who Owns Lagos, Who Built Lagos State?
