The former TOWIE star, 34, was seen battling the wind and rain as he attempted the rescue mission with the help of a pal.

It comes as record-breaking gales of 122mph ripped through the country on Friday in one of the worst storms to have hit the island in decades.

The damage to his fence left his garden exposed to passersby as he rushed to clear the debris from the street.

James braved the elements as he donned just a grey sweater and blue jeans in the pouring rain, while his friend donned a more weather-appropriate hooded black coat.

Meanwhile, James’ ex Gemma Collins revealed her garden has been ‘blown to pieces’ and her house left without electricity due to Storm Eunice.

The former TOWIE star, 41, took to Instagram to show off the aftermath of the wild weather and the ‘terrible’ damage it caused to the grounds of her Essex property.

As she took a tour around the garden she gave a glimpse at the toppled fences, displaced gnomes and broken outdoor furniture.

Sharing a clip of a white horse statue which previously adorned her garden, the Diva Forever star said: ‘Poor Tallulah was taken down in the storm. Unbelievable. The place has been absolutely blown to pieces.

‘I’ve got fence panels down, I mean it’s really bad. Fences down, panels out, it is just terrible. I can’t see any news, I don’t know what’s going on out there. I have no electric I’ve just had to charge my phone in the car.

‘I don’t understand how furniture can be blown all around the garden it’s just crazy. The only thing that survived the storm is the elephant. My beautiful trees have been blown around.

She also posted a picture of the inside of her house in the dark after her electricity went out and had to use candles to see.

James’ clean-up efforts come after he was visited by paramedics earlier this month after concerned friends called an ambulance for him on Wednesday.

The alarm was reportedly raised when the reality star was not answering his phone ‘after hitting a blip in his recovery’.

A source told MailOnline that James is ‘fine’ despite the scare, and did not require hospital treatment.

An insider told The Sun: ‘James has been doing so well, but the drastic change to his lifestyle has had pressures of its own and can be tough.

‘Unfortunately it happened on a day when he was feeling low and an ambulance had to be called.

‘He is changing his number again and is now focusing on surrounding himself with the right people who support him in his new healthy lifestyle.’
