“He makes me love football” – Super Eagles star’s moment of brilliance draws praise from Premier League fans
There were several magical moments from the Nigeria international at Goodison Park on Saturday, but one trumps all others by a country mile
Many Everton fans have heaped praises on Alex Iwobi following the Nigerian midfielder’s stunning display in the 3-0 defeat of Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.
Alex Iwobi provided two assists to set up Everton’s first and last goals in the encounter as Frank Lampard’s men ended a run of two consecutive losses.
Iwobi rolled the ball into the path of Calvert-Lewin, who finished off with aplomb to hand Everton a deserved lead after just 11 minutes.
Anthony Gordon added a second goal for the Toffees in the 63rd minute before McNeil sealed the three points with a well-worked team goal six minutes from time.
But that third goal had Iwobi magic written all over it. The Super Eagles playmaker made a fine run into the box before producing an outrageous backheel flick to set up McNeil for a simple, first-time finish.
Several Premier League fans, mostly of Everton bias, have been drooling over the assist and the goal, posted on Everton’s official Twitter account. One user even admits that Iwobi is energising his love for the sport all over again.
