Fans question the age of 18-year-old Nigerian striker who recently moved to Sweden
Football fans have taken to Twitter to banter and ask questions about the age of Nigerian striker Silas Nwankwo who just sealed a move to Swedish Allsvenskan side Mjallby.
The former Nasarawa United talisman was the joint-highest goalscorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League alongside Akwa United’s hitman Charles Atshimene.
As is usual with NPFL Golden boot winners, the former Sunshine Stars man moved abroad to seek greener pastures, signing a four-year deal with Majllby.
However, his move has caused a lot of controversies because Nwankwo claims to be an 18-year-old youngster, but judging by his looks, he could easily pass for the father of an 18-year-old youngster.
According to a tweet by Af.recon in August last year, it was reported that Nwankwo was 24 years old, but in the report by his new employers and transfermarkt details, the Nigerian hitman is just 18 years old.
SILAS NWANKWO (Nasarawa United)
Deemed as surplus to requirement at Sunshine Stars, Silas Nwankwo joined Nasarawa United at the start of the season and the rest is the tale of a fish taken to water. Nwankwo is widely regarded as a late bloomer but the 24 year old is arguably… pic.twitter.com/iW9zOlKoCH

Nigerian fans have taken to Twitter to banter the Nigerian star, as they do not believe Nwankwo is genuinely 18.
1/2 I have been following Nigerian football closely for 15 years or so. Every expert on Nigerian football knows that Silas Nwankwo is not born in 2003. It’s like someone telling Allsvenskan-fans that Jo Inge Berget of Malmö FF is 22. Perhaps you don’t know that he is 1990-born,

So this Silas Nwankwo guy captained the ESUT football team to victory at the West Africa University Games in 2015, at the young age of 11. He also graduated with a degree in Industrial Physics. A true child prodigy. https://t.co/8mOhpXTZzL https://t.co/GvolRm9SoK
