The African champions meet the Euro 2020 finalists in the first knockout round of Qatar 2022
Nigerian fans have backed Senegal to beat England when both teams at the Al Bayt Stadium on December 4 in the Round of 16 of the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Senegal finished second in Group A to set up the exciting knockout round clash with Group B winners, England.
Despite missing the services of CAF Player of the Year Sadio Mane, the Teranga Lions defeated Qatar and Ecuador to claim six points in the group stage. Senegal lost their opening match in the tournament to the Netherlands.
In England, Senegal meets a team that has gone unbeaten in Qatar.
The Three Lions outclassed Wales and Iran and drew goalless against the United States to finish with seven points in the first round.
England and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is the World Cup top scorer with three goals.
The Europeans will be the favourites when they trade tackles with the reigning African champions on Sunday.
Nigerian fans, though, are backing the West Africans to stun England and make it to their first quarterfinal at the Mundial since 2002.
Reacting to an ESPN post on Twitter, several Nigerians expressed the belief that the Teranga Lions have the quality to outshine the 1966 world champions.
