Bills safety Damar Hamlin remained down on field after a scary hit
Damar Hamlin, safety for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, collapsed on the field on Monday during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals, requiring CPR and a defibrillator before being taken in an ambulance out of the stadium. Buffalo Bills said early today that he “suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals”.
Bills said that Hamlin’s heartbeat was restored on the field and “he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”
Mr Hamlin needed both an automated external defibrillator and CPR on the field, and left the field with a pulse but unable to breathe on his own, Fox 19 reports.
The game between the two teams has been officially postponed, the Bengals announced on Monday.
According to WCPO9 journalist Marshall Kramsky, Damar Hamlin’s marketing rep said that the Buffalo Bills safety’s “vitals are back to normal and they have put him to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat.” The rep added that the hospital team is “currently running tests”.
