CMT Awards 2022 WINNERS: Carrie Underwood earns her 24th and 25th win

Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood walk away with the first award of the night  – and her record-breaking 24th of all time – for Collaborative Video of the Year as the 2022 CMT Music Awards kicks off in Nashville.

They also closed out the night with the last award – Video of the Year, her 10th time winning the honor and 25th CMT Award in total, and Aldean’s first in a 17-year career.

Miranda Lambert also took home a top prize, winning Female Video of the Year for her hit song If I Was a Cowboy.

He added, ‘But this is about the video. And to me the video is Sean Silva, everybody attack el box for shooting an amazing video. Michael Knox for producing this song for us and just kind of making this more than I ever thought it would be or could be,’ while thanking Michael Knox for producing.

A heartfelt Aldean added, ‘I just have to say 17 years in the game, this is the first time I have ever won video of the year so this is pretty amazing to me!’

Country music legend George Strait made history with his very first CMT Award, winning CMT Performance of the Year.

He beat out Brothers Osborne – Muskrat Greene/Dead Man’s Curve Medley (from CMT Campfire Sessions), H.E.R. feat. Chris Stapleton – Hold On (from 2021 CMT Music Awards), Kane Brown – Three Wooden Crosses (from 2021 CMT Artists of the Year), Kelsea Ballerini feat. Paul Klein of LANY – I Quit Drinking (from 2021 CMT Music Awards), Mickey Guyton feat. Gladys Knight & BRELAND – Friendship Train (from 2021 CMT Music Awards) and Nelly feat. While Strait couldn’t accept the award in person, he sent a video message that was shown to everyone in attendance.

‘Wow, I can’t believe I won. I’m sorry I’m not there tonight but I want to say thank you to all the fans who voted for me. I really appreciate that,’ he began.

‘And thank you to C.M.T. This was really special for me because it was a tribute song to the late Charley Pride, my friend. And I want to say hi to Charley’s family out there. Thank you very much,’ Strait concluded.
