Channel 10 is thrown into chaos as The Project disappears from screens across the country and viewers aren’t happy: ‘What a dog’s dinner!’
The Project viewers were left shocked on Wednesday night as the Channel Ten news show suddenly cut transmission.
Fans at home were enjoying the chat show when it ceased airing out of nowhere as talent and crew were forced to ‘evacuate the building’.
It wasn’t long before The Project’s X feed lit up like a Christmas tree.
‘Is there a Blackout in the Studio?’ asked one bamboozled viewer.
‘Unforeseen circumstances? A bit more explanation deserved. Broken camera? Medical episode?’ demanded another.
‘Did you lose Power?’ wrote one more
‘WTF just happened? Your show just vanished. Now I am looking at a dog adoption show,’ commented another.
‘What happened to the show? Dog house showing here,’ wrote yet one more.

‘It’s seems to be a dog’s dinner at the moment on The Project,’ quipped another fan.
A post shared to X by the program revealed a fire alarm was set off in the studio, bringing the show to a grinding halt.
Channel 10’s programming cut out just before 7pm when it began playing an episode of The Dog House.
‘Due to unforeseen circumstances, please enjoy this screening of The Dog House,’ text appearing on the screen read at the time.
Some members of the team quickly took to Instagram to live stream the evacuation, with one joking that Waleed Aly and Sarah Harris were ‘choppered out’.
‘The fire alarm has gone off and they’re making us evacuate,’ the crew member said.

‘Seems like fire safety is coming above infotainment. Which seems crazy to me,’ they joked as they could be seen walking down the building’s stairs.
‘But keep in mind that it’s the showbiz rules of evacuation, which means it’s children and celebrities first, then normals.
‘So, Waleed and Sarah, they’ve been choppered out of here while we’re taking the stairs.’

The video then saw the crew member exiting the building as firetrucks pulled up along the road outside, their lights flashing.
All occupants and workers from inside the building could be seen crowding around their evacuation point as firefighters went inside the studio.
Outside, Waleed and Sarah could be seen nervously smiling as they followed the crowd away from the building to safety, still wearing their mic packs.

‘This is how we should do the show,’ Waleed joked. ‘Can I just clear up, I did not ask for a night off. This is not part of any grand plan.
‘I genuinely have no idea what’s happening and it’s never happened before in my life.’
Sarah jumped in on the lighthearted joking next, saying: ‘Who was cooking toast is what I want to know. Who was cooking toast?’
‘Well apparently we’re airing The Dog House,’ the crew member said, to which Sarah laughed and responded: ‘If we have a ratings spike we’ll be…’

She went on to say she couldn’t smell any smoke coming from the building, to which the crew said: ‘The security guard thinks [the fire alarm] was just malfunctioning.’
The live feed continued on in a similar fashion with the whole Project team seemingly being evacuated to a nearby park.
The Project returned to screens at 7:10pm. Once back on TV, Sarah revealed the entre crew ‘had to run’ out of the building when the alarm went off.
‘We had a bathroom break,’ the panel first joked.
Waleed Aly explained: ‘There was a fire alert in our building and we had to leave.’
‘Not just leave, we had to run,’ Sarah interjected.
‘Who drew up our fire plan? We met up a kilometre away,’ Waleed added.
The Network revealed the fire alarm was set off by the reverse-cycle air-conditioning which sent dust ‘flying’ through the air.
‘Everyone was like, “We’ve got to get out of here,” I was like good joke, but I was told no, go,’ host Sam Taunton said, later joking: ‘The Project, delivered differently, sometimes not at all.’
Even celebrity guests poked fun at the chaos, with Jamie Oliver making an appearance on the show just minutes after it returned to screens.

‘First up, can I just apologise for the fire alarm? I sent someone in to do some capanes and look what happened,’ the celebrity chef joked.
A spokesperson from Fire and Rescue Victoria said they responded to a false alarm after a smoke detector malfunctioned, reported NewsWire.
Network Ten films The Project at its Melbourne studios in South Yarra, with panelists Sarah, Waleed, Sam and Nick Cody among the evacuated.
