Cardi B and Janelle Monae support Megan Thee Stallion after rapper’s ex Tory Lanez found guilty

Cardi B and Janelle Monae were just one of many celebrities who jumped to Twitter on Friday to share their response to rapper, Tory Lanez, being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020.

The WAP singer, 30, reposted a tweet from a fan page asking the star to call her lawyer, Lisa Moore, to assist Megan, with Cardi B typing, ‘Referrals will be went.’

The Glass Onion actress, 37, also uploaded a post in favor of Megan, and sent a ‘hug,’ ‘love’ and ‘peace to Megan Pete,’ referencing to the 27-year-old’s real name.

Other celebrities sent their congratulations to Megan following the verdict, with ‘Happy for Meg,’ currently trending on the social media platform.

Cardi B wrote in a tweet that she will refer Megan to her lawyer, Lisa Moore, who had helped the Bodak Yellow hitmaker win two lawsuits over the course of 2022.

The original post she had retweeted had asked Cardi to, ‘Get Ms. Lisa on the line for Megan,’ adding, ‘She got quiet a few blogs to sue for defamation.’

Along with the caption, the talented performer, who is currently married to rapper, Offset, also shared a GIF of Wendy Williams approaching a wax figure of herself for a humorous addition to the tweet.

Janelle sent her love to Megan, who went through a 10-day trial, followed by a day and a half of deliberation.

Selling Sunset star, Chrishell Stause, was another celebrity who jumped to her social media accounts and responded to the official verdict.

The reality star reposted the news on her Instagram story, and added a caption, penning to her followers, ‘If you followed the actual FACTS of the case, and not ridiculous online harassment this verdict will also make you very happy.’

She additionally tagged Megan, typing, ‘I hope @theestallion gets every single thing she ever wanted in life to make up for the crazy abuse she has endured during this trial.’

American rapper, Baby Tate, additionally celebrated on social media upon hearing the verdict. She also reposted the news on Instagram, along with the song, Celebration, by Kool & The Gang, playing the background.

She also cheered towards the camera while holding a colorful shot glass in her hand, with Shots Fired, by Megan Thee Stallion, playing. ‘Cheers b***h,’ she wrote.

Both ‘Happy for Meg’ and ‘Tory’ is currently trending on Twitter as social media users respond to the verdict on the social media platform.

Rapper and Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star, Hazel-E,  also sent her congratulations to the star, typing, ‘Good Job! Justice for @theestallion.’

Director and filmmaker, Matthew A. Cherry wrote in a tweet, ‘Happy for Meg man. Hope she can get some rest now.’

Megan’s producer, Max Julian, shared a few heated responses of his own to support the talented beauty. ‘Put that big head b***h under the f***ing jail,’ and, ‘He can kiss that hairline completely goody bye in there. Donezo.’

‘After everything Megan has been through in the past two years and the s**t she’s put up with from men in the music industry i could not be happier she is finally getting justice,’ Lewys shared.

Big Brother star, Taylor Hale, expressed, ‘Don’t ever get it twisted we are pro Megan and Meghan over here.’

Another fellow rapper, Monaleo, wrote, ‘So glad Megan for the justice she deserved. This is major for her and for every other black woman who has been taunted for speaking up about abuse and violence against them.’

While there was an overwhelming show of support and celebration for Megan, other social media users and stars expressed their support for Tory or confusion over the verdict.

After a day and a half of deliberations at the end of a 10-day trial, the Los Angeles jury of seven women and five men convicted Lanez of three felonies: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, shooting a firearm in a grossly negligent manner and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.

The assault carries a penalty of up to nine years in jail, the conviction for negligently shooting a gun up to three years and the concealed gun count three years.

But because the jury also found that Lanez caused ‘great bodily injury’ – Megan had three bullet fragments surgically removed from her feet – the assault and negligent shooting felonies carry enhanced penalties that could add up to six years to his sentence.

The Canadian-born musician – whose real name is Daystar Peterson – is also facing possible deportation. He had pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

In her emotional testimony last week, Megan told the jury that she and Lanez – with whom she’d been having a sexual relationship – had been to a pool party July 12, 2020 at the home of Kylie Jenner and were in his SUV in the Hollywood Hills with Megan’s assistant and best friend, Kelsey Harris, when an argument erupted.

Megan – real name Megan Pete – asked the driver to stop the car and she got out – which was when she said Lanez yelled ‘Dance b—ch’ and fired a gun five times at her, injuring her feet so seriously that she needed surgery.

She also testified that Lanez offered her and Harris a million dollars to keep quiet about the shooting. Lanez later apologized to her, saying he was drunk at the time of the shooting.

Shortly after the verdict, pandemonium broke out in the courtroom as rapper Tory Lanez was found guilty. The singer showed no emotion when the verdict was read.

But some his followers in the packed courtroom started jeering and a man identified as Lanez’ father pointed at the judge and jury, screaming, ‘This is wicked, you are evil. Wickedness of the highest order’.

And his stepmother yelled, ‘We love you baby,’ as he was led away in handcuffs to be held in custody till his sentencing which Judge David Herriford scheduled for January 27.
