Byron Bay influencer Ruby Tuesday sparks rumours she’s in Sydney

Ruby Tuesday Matthews has raised eyebrows after she shared an image of her lunch at Sydney’s ritzy eastern suburbs on Friday.

Despite travel restrictions between Greater Metropolitan Sydney and regional New South Wales still in place, the Byron Bay based influencer appeared to enjoy a meal at Mimi’s in Coogee, The Daily Telegraph reported on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Instagram influencer shared a photo from her outing showing fans she was enjoying Malossol Caviar, the same caviar served at Mimi’s according to the restaurant’s social media post back in February.

In the comments section, fans speculated she was dining at the beach side hot spot in Sydney, while some recognised the popular Merivale restaurant’s utensils according to the publication.

However, Ruby gave no clear indication of where she was exactly and initially wrote in the caption: ‘Hello Friday work meetings’ before changing it to: ‘Friday mood.’

After being approached for comment, Ruby’s management told Daily Mail Australia said that she did have a valid exemption to travel with ‘more than one reasonable excuse’.

Travel into Great Metropolitan Sydney from regional New South Wales for holiday, recreational visits or day-trips is not allowed until November 1, according to the State’s guidelines.

Only those with a ‘reasonable excuse’ including going to legal/medical appointments, care or assistance to a vulnerable person or for compassionate reasons are allowed in at the moment.

Ruby’s reps said her ‘reasonable excuses’ fell into all of the following categories: ‘For work if it not reasonably practicable to work at home, for compassionate reasons, to fulfil legal obligations’.

She was due to fly from Byron Bay to Sydney on Thursday at 5pm but a technical issue caused the flight to be delayed.

The budget airline asked travellers to stay put while waiting for an engineer, and told passengers the new departure time would likely be about 7.30pm.

But Ruby and her travel companion left the airport to grab a bite to eat at a beachside restaurant, holding up the plane an extra 30 minutes as it waited on the tarmac for the pair to return.

In videos exclusively taken by Daily Mail Australia of the flight, frustrated passengers could be heard heckling the single mother-of-two as she boarded half an hour after the plane was due to take off.

Footage showed passengers shouting ‘how were the oysters’ and ‘what a day to be pretty’ as she entered the aircraft.

When the plane touched down in Sydney, Ruby wasted no time in calling out Jetstar on her Instagram page, slamming the airline for their handling of the incident.

The mother of two blamed Jetstar for what had happened and told the other passengers to ‘grow up’.

She also claimed she was met with ‘very personal comments’ when she got on the plane.

‘I was basically bullied by about seven to 10 to 14 people at different times, then they made comments about my children. No Jetstar staff stopped this at any time. I copped it hard for about 15 minutes.

‘I was scared for myself because number one, I was by myself…number two, no one else who was later than me copped any abuse, it was just me alone,’ she added.
