Big Brother’s Trish Balusa accuses ITV bosses of ‘shifting the moral compass’ for Gary Goldsmith to star in the Celebrity series – after her own racist and homophobic tweets scandal
Big Brother star Trish Balusa has accused ITV bosses of ‘shifting the moral compass’ to allow Gary Goldsmith to take part in the Celebrity series.
The outspoken uncle of Princess Of Wales Kate Middleton entered the famous house on Monday night, and has already caused a stir with his views on the Royal Family.
Now Trish has hit out at ITV in a scathing tweet where she claimed she ‘was unfairly penalised’ by show bosses, while they choose to give ‘people like Gary a platform.’
Trish reposted a tweet from another viewer alluding to Gary’s previous conviction for assaulting his fourth wife Julie-Ann, as well as his notorious drugs sting at his Ibiza villa in 2009.
The tweet read: ‘So Kate Middleton’s broke, WIFE BEATING druggie uncle has decided to hit the ground running by slandering #MeghanMarkle with an ill-looking Sharon Osbourne.

‘I’m not sure which audience #cbb thinks it’s playing to??? GBNEWS viewers?? Having two miserable old white people, one of whom was fired from their job for being racist, and the other one a wife beater, being hateful about Meghan Markle, isn’t entertaining.’
Trish then added: ‘Still can’t believe I continue to be unfairly penalised by ITV for failed social media check BUT they calmly give people like this a platform.
‘The moral compass is easily shifted for some people Entering this industry as a black person is really something.’
‘Will never forget Nigel Farage being on ITV whilst they took on a fake moral high ground with me. Till now a lot of behind-the-scenes reasons I was given doesn’t make sense. Gaslight level was HIGH.’
Gary earned notoriety when he was caught in a drugs sting by the now-defunct News Of The World newspaper in 2009 at his Ibiza villa, the Maison de Bang Bang – crude French slang for the ‘House of Sex’.
He was filmed giving hard drugs to an undercover reporter – but denied taking drugs and reporter Mazher Mahmood, known as the ‘Fake Sheikh’, was later jailed for perverting the course of justice.
The businessman, who made his money in recruitment and was once worth £30million, is thought to have been kept at arm’s length by the Middletons in recent years.
This is despite him attending William and Kate’s wedding in London in 2011 and then that of Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton to James Matthews in Berkshire six years later.

She then went onto claim that ITV took a ‘fake moral high ground’ with her, after the mother-of-one apologised for resurfaced ‘racist and homophobic’ tweets
Gary Goldsmith was arrested in 2017 after allegedly assaulting his fourth wife, Julie-Ann, outside their London home. They are pictured together at a film premiere in London in 2013
In 2012 he married his fourth wife Julie-Ann – but five years later in 2017, he was arrested after assaulting her outside their home in London.
Mr Goldsmith knocked her to the ground after she accused him of taking drugs during a drunken fight.
He later pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating and was fined £5,000 and handed a 12-month community order with 20 sessions of rehabilitation.
Julie-Ann’s mother Maureen Brown told MailOnline at the time: ‘You shouldn’t do that to a woman. She doesn’t deserve that.’
Trish was a contestant on the civilian series of Big Brother last year, the first to air after the show was revived by ITV.
After her shock eviction just a week before the final, old ‘racist and homophobic’ social media posts from the mother-of-one resurfaced.
Her historic tweets referring to minority groups, in which she made homophobic, racist and ableist comments, were uncovered after her exit.
She was subsequently removed from the spin-off show Big Brother: Late & Live and was the only housemate not to be invited to the final.
In addition producers said they were investigating the third party hired to trawl over housemates’ social media before they enter the show to search for problematic posts, to discover why the tweets were not found.
At the time, a spokesperson for Big Brother told The Sun of the investigation: ‘This weekend, we have been made aware of concerning historical tweets.
‘We are currently looking into why they were not identified by the independent supplier we engage to review the digital footprint of potential Housemates as part of our pre-checks.’
It comes after Trish’s old ‘racist and homophobic’ social media posts resurfaced following her shock eviction, leading her to issue an apology
Trish then broke her silence after the scandal, posting an apology statement to her social media feed.
The ex housemate wrote: ‘I’m aware that some very concerning old tweets of mine have re-surfaced, and I would like to sincerely apologise for the harmful stereotypes I perpetuated and the pain I have caused to the marginalised communities and groups of people mentioned.
‘There are no excuses for the ignorance that I showed and I am deeply disappointed, embarrassed and ashamed that I once made such comments. I have come a very long way since by educating myself and being educated by others on the impact and harm those views cause.’
The comments were especially impactful to viewers as Trish accused the other housemates of micro-aggressions during her time in the house.
She added in the statement: ‘It is part of the reason why I am so passionate about standing up for others and holding myself to a high standard of responsibility and accountability for my actions.
‘I appreciate the support you’ve all given me on the show and I understand you feel disappointed.
‘I know apologies can seem convenient but I mean it from the bottom of my heart: I am truly sorry. I hope it is possible for you to offer me grace and believe people can change.
‘I am committed to being the person I am now, the person you have known my as – someone who speaks up, stands for what they believe in and always open to growth and accountability.’
The posts from 2012 were only discovered following Trish’s exit as during their time in the house all contestants set their social media profiles to private.
She wrote following her exit: ‘Going on big brother was actually one of the best decisions I’ve made. That experience has taught me soooo much.’
Her original Twitter account was then deleted – although the statement has now popped up under another username, and has been posted to her Instagram profile.
