Andy Murray vs John Isner LIVE: Wimbledon 2022 updates and results after Emma Raducanu suffers second-round exit and Novak Djokovic wins
Wimbledon 2022: Emma Raducanu wins Centre Court debut as Andy Murray starts with victory
Wimbledon enters day three at the All England Club but home favourite Emma Raducanu is out of the tournament after a 6-3 6-3 defeat to Caroline Garcia sealed a second-round exit from the Championships. Hopes were high for Raducanu as she returned to Centre Court but was second best to Garcia as the Frenchwoman displayed clean hitting and power in taking the victory in straight sets.
Andy Murray will look to lift the mood, with the two-time Wimbledon champion next in actin on Centre with the prospect of some late drama against the big-serving John Isner. Earlier, Novak Djokovic raced to a 6-1 6-4 6-2 win against the Australian 26-year-old Thanasi Kokkinakis, that was as comfortable as the scoreline suggests.
Cameron Norrie (vs Jaume Munar), Heather Watson (vs Qiang Wang) and Harriet Dart (vs Rebeka Masarova) will look to keep up the momentum from an impressive first two days for British players at SW19. The journey is over for Ryan Peniston, however, after the 26-year-old debutant fell in straight sets to experienced American Steve Johnson.
Elsewhere the exciting Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz (vs Tallon Griekspoor) and women’s world No2 Ons Jabeur (vs Katarzyna Kawa) take to Court 2 and Court 3 respectively this afternoon, while Wimbledon champions Angelique Kerber and Garbine Muguruza also feature on Court 2.

Stunning! A beauty of a backhand from Murray from the baseline, judged to perfection with a touch of backspin.

Isner kicks off with another ace, then follows it with a forehand winner. A framed forehand from Isner is greeted by cheers around Centre Court, so desperate are the crowd for Murray to get his teeth into a game.
But that’s too good from Isner. The serve out wide is followed by a driven volley at the net, and then again as Isner contols the sliced backhand.

Murray is so close to a brilliant snapped forehand winner, inches from the line, and Isner suddenly takes the game away with two belting aces on either side.
A rare double fault from Isner draws a murmer – he’s barely missed a first serve at all, but Isner follows in a good angled backhand to put away the volley.
We are creeping closer to a tiebreak.

“Let’s go Andy, let’s go!” rings around Centre Court, as Murray turns to fire up the crowd again. This place will go off if Murray can get the break.
It is so, so hard, though. Isner puts away a forehand winner and then drills the smash down into the groud and past Murray.

Andy Murray 4-6 6-7 3-3 John Isner*
Just the 20 aces and 46 winners so far from Isner. Murray has not faced a break point since losing his serve early in the opening set, neither has he managed to create one.
Isner pings a forehand winner past Murray to start, before Murray is scrambling to pick up an Isner drive to the backhand side. Murray scapes it up, then whips a tester into Isner’s feet. It brings a big fist pump from Murray.
Isner nets another low ball at the net, before Murray scoops up another drive from Isner and flashes the forehand back.
40-15. Great serve, winner, and Murray roars to the crowd!

*Andy Murray 4-6 6-7 2-3 John Isner
Two opening aces from Isner, out wide to both sides, Murray has to improvise to reach Isner’s driven volleys, before the American puts it away. When Murray can get the return in play he is having some joy, especially with Isner struggling a bit with the slice. But Isner then follows up with serve with a pounded volley past Murray and the American holds again.
