Abia: Gov Ikpeazu mourns Emmanuel Nkole, promises to reconstruct dilapidated Nmuri Bridge
The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has promised to mobilize a contractor for the immediate reconstruction of the Nmuri bridge, Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State.
Governor Ikpeazu gave the assurance, Saturday, while speaking at the funeral ceremony of late Chief Emmanuel Ndukwe Uko Nkole, father of the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon. Uko Nkole.
He directed the federal legislator to immediately take engineers to the bridge to determine the cost and forward the same to him for kick-off work on Monday.
This directive from the Governor was in response to the passionate appeal made to him by the Prelate and Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Most Rev Dr Nzie Nsi Eke, to help fix the bridge.
Governor Ikpeazu described the late Chief Emmanuel Nkole as a great Father, Community Leader and Patriarch who lived an exemplary life on earth.
He charged the bereaved family to sustain the virtues of honesty, steadfastness and selfless service to humanity and prayed God to grant the family Grace and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
In his remarks, the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila represented by the Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha described death as a necessary end and expressed joy that the late Chief Emmanuel Nkole lived a fulfilled life having attained the age of 79 with legacies on the sands of time.
In their condolences, the member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Hon Darlington Nwokocha and the National Organising Secretary of the PDP, Col. Austin Akobundu, described the deceased as a great man and prayed God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Earlier in a sermon, entitled “Our Citizenship is in Heaven”The Moderator and Prelate of the General Assembly, Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Nzie Nsi Eke who said that God determines His time table, assured the bereaved family that those look upon the Lord will not be disappointed.
While reminding the living that there is a time to die, the Prelate, urged them to draw closer to God as He cares much about His People.
In his tribute, the deceased’s Second son and member representing Arochukwu/ Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representative, Hon. Uko Nkole, described his late Father as a Community Leader, disciplinarian and philanthropist who touched many lives, regretting that his demise has created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
