Aaron Carter files for full custody of son amid restraining order petition against ex-Melanie Martin

Two days after publicly announcing his split from ex-fiancée Melanie Martin, comes word that Aaron Carter is now trying to get custody of their infant son.

The I Want Candy singer has also filed a petition for protection against Martin at the Antelope Valley Courthouse in Los Angeles County.

The Blast is reporting that Carter petitioned the court for full ‘legal and physical’ custody of the couple’s son Prince, who was born in November 2021.

He also alleged abuse from Martin that was documented on February 23, 2022, although Carter maintained there weren’t any witnesses to his claims.

In the legal documents, Carter described the abuse inflicted on him as ’emotional distress, anguish, shoving, & scratching.’

On the day in question, he called Martin’s actions ‘verbally abusive, taunting, antagonizing, would not allow me to get any sleep all night long, shoving & scratching & attempted to push me over the banister over 2nd story staircase.’

He claimed the injuries he suffered included ‘scratching on back & thumb’, which were a direct result of her abusive behavior.

The entertainer went on to allege Martin was ‘Disprsing (sic) medication down the toilet, public online slander, emotionally abusing me by threatening to kill herself which cause me to worry for the safety of our child’, and that the abuse was repeated on a ‘weekly basis.’

When asked why his three-month-old son would need protection, Carter called Martin ‘unstable mentally’, and alleged she ’causes fights in front of our son’ and that ‘she neglects him.’

As part of the legal filing, the former child star is asking the court to order her to stay 100 yards (300 feet) away from him, his family members and friends, his home, his workplace, his vehicle, his school, and his children’s school or daycare.

But just five days before the legal filing, Carter posted a photo of Martin holding their child and a puppy and called her ‘such a good momma!’ in the caption, adding, ‘Puppies and babies. Xoxo #Love #familyfirst.’

It turns out, the former couple are still currently living together in Lancaster, California. But Carter is hoping to get the judge in their case to force her to move out, claiming that ‘It’s my home & place of business.’

Carter was asked why he wants full control of the property, for which he first responded ‘business safety’, but that answer was scratched out and replaced with ‘safety for our son.’

The singer expressed concern about a risk of ‘child abduction’, and that his ex-partner would take their son to another county in California, the state of Nevada, or the country of Bulgaria. In the document, he indicated that both Martin’s mother and grandmother have ties to Bulgaria.

Carter substantiated his ‘abduction’ concerns by claiming she has violated or threatened to violate a custody or visitation order in the past. Furthermore, he said Martin has recently sold or gotten rid of assets, which makes him concerned that she might take Prince away without his permission.

He also maintained Martin has a history of domestic violence and that she’s ‘not cooperating with me in parenting.’ When asked to elaborate further, Carter wrote, ‘Domestic Violence. Threatened to leave with my son to Nevada & take him away to Bulgaria & I’ll never see him again.’

The day the document was filed, Carter took to Twitter to announce the end of their relationship.

‘My relationship has come to a point where we have to part ways. Please respect my privacy at this time. Thank you,’ he tweeted.

He follow up: ‘I have no intentions on being in any relationship anytime soon. I’m too scarred and I can’t trust any woman. So I’m going to protect my soul and my heart at this time.’

Carter and Martin have had a tumultuous relationship, full of online rants and breakups; one of which happened only a week after she gave birth Prince.

So far, Melanie Martin has not publicly responded to the restraining order or the abuse allegations.
