Kate Ritchie introduces boyfriend Chevy Black to her mother at daughter Mae’s sports carnival

Kate Ritchie has taken her relationship with boyfriend Chevy Black to the next level by introducing him to her mother Heather and eight-year-old daughter Mae

The couple, who were first pictured together a romantic picnic in early February, looked positively smitten as they joined Heather to watch Mae compete in her school sports carnival at Centennial Park, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, on Wednesday.

Kate, Chevy and Heather looked relaxed and happy as they cheered on Mae from afar.

At times Kate, 44, was seen cosying up to her beau by wrapping an arm around his waist as they stood in a crowd of spectators.

The former Home And Away star looked effortlessly chic for the family-friendly outing, sporting a denim button-down shirt, matching shorts and brown sandals.

She carried her belongings in a woven brown tote and completed her look with a watch, rings and a pair of spectacles.

Chevy meanwhile looked casual in a white Nike T-shirt, beige shorts and sneakers.

After the carnival, Kate and Chevy enjoyed a romantic stroll through the grassy fields.

According to Woman’s Day, Kate and Chevy have grown incredibly close in the short time they’ve been dating, and she’s even met his family. 

‘She’s been introduced to the family, including Chevy’s mother and siblings,’ a source told the publication.

According to the publication, Chevy is a ‘kind and lovable type of guy’.

 

The star’s new relationship comes after Kate split from her ex-boyfriend John Bell and her shock rehab stint for alcohol dependency.

In October, Kate announced she was stepping away from the Kate, Tim and Joel show in October, before it was revealed she was seeking treatment at an exclusive rehab clinic in Sydney.

In December, she said in a statement that the last year had been challenging and stressful and led to an ‘unhealthy reliance on alcohol’.

Kate has since remained silent on her return date, despite teasing in January she would be back on air with her co-hosts Joel Creasey and Tim Blackwell in a matter of weeks.

However, in February it was reported that she may never return as she prepares to jump ship to Nova’s drive show Fitzy and Wippa, replacing their co-anchor Sarah McGilvray in the coveted role.

Current and former employees of the radio station told Daily Mail Australia they were blindsided by news McGilvray was being pushed aside to make way for incoming co-host Kate Ritchie, with some only learning about it via the press.

One staffer said her departure was ‘brutal’ for someone who had ‘given a decade of her life’ to a radio show and was popular with listeners, adding she was ‘tossed aside without so much as a proper goodbye’.

‘The guys at Nova are baffled. Most people didn’t even find out until the stories broke. They had all been asking, “Where is Sarah?” and were confused,’ another said.

McGilvray worked on Fitzy and Wippa for 12 years, spending eight of those as a co-host alongside Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli. Before that, she was a senior producer for the Sydney breakfast program.

Her exit has not been acknowledged on air since she vanished from the show almost a month ago after a blow-up with management about her role at the network.

A source with knowledge of the discussion said McGilvray was ‘upset and angry’ at her bosses for effectively taking her job away from her by bringing in Kate as a third host.
