Transfer deadline day LIVE: Liverpool set to sign Arthur Melo, Cristiano Ronaldo Napoli loan, Man City confirm Akanji

TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY is here and teams have just hours to get their deals done!

Liverpool are the surprise early movers, with the Reds reported to be close to signing former Arsenal target Arthur Melo.

The Juventus man has been pictured boarding a flight from Turin as he prepares to sign a loan deal.

Manchester City have announced the £16.7m signing of Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji.

That means Pep Guardiola will have a plethora of defensive options with none of his centre-backs set to leave.

Meanwhile Chelsea are expected to be among the busiest teams today.

There are positive signs in the Blues’ pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but the signings of Anthony Gordon and Neymar appear off limits.

Rafael Leao is another player who could join Chelsea, and that may yet open the door for a surprise move to AC Milan for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Such a deal is seen as unlikely. However, there are reports today that a loan for Ronaldo to Napoli remains on the table.

Partenopei boss Luciano Spalletti has been singing the praises of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner recently, saying he would “talk about it for the rest of his life” if he could coach Ronaldo.

There are just hours left until the transfer window shuts on September 1 and we have news of every single deal completed this summer.

On penning his new deal, the 20-year-old is quoted as saying: “I really enjoy being here and I wanted to stay here. We have a lot of work to do and a lot to achieve here. We have a good team and we’re ready.”

Ten Hag said yesterday that he was planning on Ronaldo staying with the club. However, Manchester United’s number 7 has been linked with a move away all summer.

    Could this be it?
