Simon Cowell, 62, cuts a handsome figure at America’s Got Talent auditions

Simon Cowell wore a protective wrist brace on Wednesday as he stepped on to the red carpet for Season 17 of America’s Got Talent at Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California.

The 62-year-old music mogul, still recovering after a bike accident close to his family home in London, looked sharp in a navy blue jumper and smart black trousers, paired with matching shoes.

He flashed a pearly white smile as he posed on the red carpet, his injured hand noticeable in its black supportive brace.

Simon was soon joined by his fellow judges Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum, and host Terry Crews.

Sofia looked busty in a red sequined strapless dress similar to Jessica Rabbit’s look in the 1981 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

The judge oozed confidence in the busty ensemble as she got ready for another thrilling round of auditions for the hit show.

The Columbian bombshell coiffed her brunette locks with cascading curls while accentuating her striking features with a glamorous palette of make-up.

Heidi displayed her supermodel good looks in a green sequinned blazer, which she paired with the coordinating trousers.

Her blonde tresses were styled poker straight as she elevated her already impressive height in a pair of strappy black heels.

Terry looked as handsome as ever in a white suit layered over a pale blue shirt, and finished with a blue pocket square.

The kick-off of the new season comes after Simon detailed the impact of his near-fatal e-bike accident and admitted that the crash was ‘much worse’ than the public knew at the time.

The Britain’s Got Talent creator revealed he suffered ‘long-term nerve damage’ as a result of the collision and said he is now ‘very careful’ about what he  does.

The father of one, who is dad to eight year-old son Eric, admitted that he ‘kept a lot back’ at the time of the incident and didn’t talk about what had happened.

Detailing more about the crash to Ok! magazine, Simon recalled: ‘I didn’t talk about it much at the time. I kept a lot back. It was a lot worse than people thought. I had a lot of long-term nerve damage as well.

‘Just when I though the bones had healed, I went with Eric to a funfair and tried to kick a football and it was agony.

‘Then, a year later, I fell off my bike – and that set me back again. It’s been a long haul but I’m almost healed and I’m being very careful about what I do.

‘But at least now I can actually play football with Eric. If there was one good thing about lockdown, it was that it gave me the time to heal because I wasn’t working on a TV show.

‘I was able to walk a lot and strengthen my legs. I know I was lucky to survive my back surgery. I have a lot of people to thank for my recovery.’

It comes after Simon exclusively told MailOnline that his son Eric doesn’t approve of him continuing to use his e-bike following two horror crashes.

In February, the media mogul was left with a broken arm after falling off his bike, having previously broken his back following a similar fall in Malibu two years ago.

And while Simon has no issues getting back in the saddle, he revealed his son doesn’t feel the same way, revealing that the youngster ‘made him walk’ back to their hotel after spotting him on the e-bike.

Speaking ahead of the second episode of Britain’s Got Talent, he said: ‘I’ve always been very accident prone! Luckily it wasn’t too bad so you learn something from it. But you won’t get me off the bike.

‘I actually went on one the other day, I was somewhere where I wasn’t on a road and I took my bike with me, and I actually thought, ‘I need to get back on my bike’. Then Eric saw me and went crazy! He was so mad, he made me walk it.

‘We were at a hotel so he made me walk it back to the restaurant and then to our room. It’s like role reversal going on now, I’m now the child and he’s the parent, it’s hysterical.

‘The good thing was I wasn’t nervous when I got on it, I really enjoyed it.’

Simon continued: ‘I’m not getting off it! I always say that if you’re going to ride a bike then you’re going to fall off it at some point. It does come with the territory.’

He went on to say that he thinks his bad run of luck has finally finished after his eventful time during filming for the Britain’s Got Talent auditions.

He mused: ‘In one week I broke my arm, lost a tooth and then got Covid. All in a week. They say things happen in threes so hopefully I’m done now!’

Earlier this year Simon told MailOnline he was ‘a bit of a nutter’ after he narrowly avoided serious injury during his second e-bike crash when he wasn’t wearing a helmet. 

Simon was rushed to hospital near his west London home with suspected concussion, facial cuts and a broken arm after he slammed into the road at 20mph while not wearing a helmet.

The ‘blood-soaked’ tycoon had been riding a Das Spitzing Evolution S-Pedelec bike, which has a basic price of €9499 (£7921) and has top speeds of 27mph.

Simon was attended to by passersby before paramedics arrived, while three onlookers also stopped oncoming traffic. 

In August 2020, Simon fell off his e-bike in Malibu and had to undergo back surgery.

The media mogul was said to be considering suing the manufacturers, Swindon Powertrain.

A spokesperson for the star told MailOnline at the time: ‘Simon is understandably extremely concerned for other peoples’ safety in relation to this bike.

‘We have been pressing the manufacturers about this and will continue to press them, including in relation to the claims of the former member of staff.’

The star overhauled his lifestyle after breaking his back and now has regular sleeping and exercise habits, and he has lost more than 20lbs.
