Adele, Piers Morgan and Stacey Dooley lead the stars showing their support for England

Adele, Rita Ora, Amanda Holden and Stacey Solomon were leading the stars showing their support for the England team after they lost to Italy in the Euros 2020 final on Sunday evening.

The Three Lions failed in their bid to lift the trophy after Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka missed penalties like manager Gareth Southgate famous did at the old Wembley stadium in Euro 96. 

Singer Adele, 33, took to Instagram after the game wearing a red England shirt and beamed while writing in the caption: ‘You did us so proud! You brought our game home and brought us all together.’

Loose Women star Stacey, 31, shared a sweet picture of her son watching the TV after the game ended and wrote in the caption: ‘Aw – Just wanted to say thank you to the England team for giving us so many exciting memories.

Dermot O’Leary posted a poignant snap of England manager Gareth hugging Saka after the game with the caption: ‘Keep that beautiful head up Saka. You did your club and country proud. X’

Piers Morgan shared the same snap and wrote: ‘I admire every player who steps up & shows the balls to take a penalty in a game that important. Especially when they’re just 19, 21 & 23. Proud of you @bukayosaka87 @sanchooo10 @marcusrashford – you missed, and we lost, but you’ve all got guts.’

Love Island’s Amber Gill took to Twitter to say: ‘It’s sad because they deserved it but the boys done us so proud and I love them.’

Former TOWIE star Mario Falcone also offered a message of support after the game as he shared a snap with his son Parker and wife Becky at Wembley with the caption: ‘Not the result I would have preferred but amazing night and atmosphere.’

Rita posed seductively on a chair with her England shirt strewn over her and wore her hair up in, before taking to her Instagram Story to show her makeup being done which featured a patriotic red lip.

Amongst the celebrities coming to support the team, Boris Johnson and the Queen have also called on England to ‘bring it home’ in personal letters to Gareth Southgate and his ‘band of brothers’ ahead of the Euro 2020 final.

The prime minister praised the team’s ‘sheer flair’ as he called on them to lift the trophy against Italy at Wembley on Sunday, saying they had ‘already made history.’

Meanwhile the Queen earlier sent her ‘good wishes’ and praised the team’s ‘spirit, commitment and pride’ in a short note to Southgate as she recalled presenting Sir Bobby Moore with the World Cup in 1966, England’s last major tournament win.

Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate urged the nation to ‘stop looking at the negatives of our own country’ because ‘England has so much to be proud of’ as he rallied millions of patriotic fans.

Invoking the courage of a Second World War generation, England’s manager said Britain should not be ashamed of its history – as he praised his squad’s role in driving ‘tolerance and inclusion’.

Speaking at a press conference alongside his captain Kane on Saturday night at the Grove Hotel in Hertford, Southgate said his focus was on ‘bringing the trophy home’, adding: ‘We’re here to win.’
