Job in Focus: Marketing & Communications Intern

What would makes applicants stand out from their competitors?

PP: For interns especially, I always like to look at the additional experience section in the bottom [of their CV]. What else do they like, what else do they do? I value candidates who say, for example, that they did something about Excel learning, Google Analytics, or things outside their regular curriculum.

What advice can you share for the interview process?

PP: One thing that I do like to do is a test, something very simple. In the interviews, I usually ask candidates to just spend 10 minutes on our website and tell me a couple of things that they like or a couple of things that they think could be better. Just how they think. Do they go to a competitor website? Do they know our competitors?

What are the most important aspects of the role?

SJ: I think organisation and effective communication of how and what you’ve been able to accomplish, if it is a virtual setting, is really important. I think one of the key personality traits that I look for is someone who is willing to learn. You should know what is aligned with our aesthetics as a luxury brand and all that comes with that.
